Twitter Blue comes to Android costing the same as iOS

Since Elon Musk has been in charge of Twitter, the management of the social network has become a soap opera that has sometimes reached the absurd. Beyond the tycoon’s obsession to talk about him, what is clear is that Twitter Blue will be one of the cornerstones for the sustainability of the company in the near future, so the subscription plan has reached Android after doing it on iOS last month.

The price of Twitter Blue has been dancing over the weeks. After being initially established at 8 dollars, it later rose to 20 to immediately move to the 11 that currently costs on mobile. The cheaper is the subscription for the web interface, which for now stands at US$8 per month or US$84 per year (This last plan was launched on Monday of this week).

Now Twitter Blue It is officially available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Subscribers have access to features like the well-known blue check, uploading longer videos, priority replies in conversations, a thread reader, tweet editing, and the ability to set custom themes and icons.

Twitter Blue Pricing Table

Of everything contributed by Twitter Blue, what has raised the most dust has been the subject of the blue verification, an aspect for which Twitter has had to establish some additional requirements accompanied by other verifications that guarantee the correct identification of companies and government organizations. On the other hand, and seeing the lurches that the company is giving after the social network since Elon Musk is in charge, it is not ruled out that the conditions, characteristics and prices of the subscription plan are maintained, which also includes the symmetry between the supported platforms.

We’ll see how Twitter fares with its subscription plan, but the Financial Times is reporting the company will have to pay off the interest on the loans Musk took out to buy it for nearly $13 billion by the end of this month. That could insinuate that the intention with the subscription plan would not only be to have greater independence from advertisers, but also to obtain quick income to deal with debts.
