Twitter tests a tag to highlight the “likes” of the author of the tweet

Adding to the recent barrage of new features of the application, and totally unrelated to doubts about the possible purchase of the social network, it seems that Twitter is testing the addition of a small tag to highlight the likes given by the author to the comments within their tweets.

With a look and purpose very similar to likes highlighted by YouTube video creators or TikTok creators, this new addition will display with a small heart followed by the label “by the author”, contained within a gray box that will make it more visible in both light and dark mode of the application. This highlight will be placed below reply comments that have been liked by the original author of the thread.

Twitter likes by the author

It is thus a useful function mainly for influencers and celebrities, since it can be used as a tool for faster and more visual interactions with your followers, and a form of motivation by acknowledging their opinions without the need to manually message them. However, some users have already crossed out this addition as something “annoying” since it can be a distraction between the texts.

First spotted by Techcrunch in the Android app, it appears that the Twitter has already confirmed that it is currently testing a variety of updates to help your users better receive the contexts of the details seen on the platform. Although the company declined to share any more information about the nature of them, leaving us with a partial confirmation of it.

That said, it wouldn’t be surprising if we see some expansion of this test segment before the official integration of this feature into the final Twitter app, so we could be still months away from seeing it reach our phones.
