Since Elon Musk has taken control of Twitter, the social network is preparing many changes, especially in the field of monetization. The main change that we are going to find is in Twitter Blue, the subscription program that, for 8 dollars a month, allows us to verify the account and have extra functions in the social network. However, not everything is bad news, and it seems that one of the most anticipated functions of Twitter, until now paid for, is going to be free for all users: edit tweets.
Being able to edit tweets is a function that many users have been asking for since the beginning of the social network. Whether it is because we make a mistake when writing something, or we make a mistake in a hurry, surely more than once we have missed this possibility.
After years and years of waiting, Twitter finally brought it, although only for users who paid for a subscription to Blue, the “Premium” version of this social network. However, it seems that Elon Musk does not agree that this functionality is only exclusive to users who checkout on the social network, and has finally decided that he is going to make it available to everyone. And free!
In a few days you will be able to edit your tweets
As we can read on Bloomberg, Elon Musk is already working on being able to enable the button to edit a tweet for all users. This function will allow us, in within 30 minutes of posting a tweet, edit it to make the changes we want to it. Of course, users will be able to see the original message, even if we edit it, and the moment in which the message was edited. That is, this feature will work just as it does now as part of Twitter Blue, unless Musk has new plans for it.
It is not yet officially confirmed, but close sources say that this feature should be available to all users this week, or, at the latest, by next week. The implementation will be gradual to all users, and we will only have to update the app (if we use a mobile client) to be able to see it as soon as it is available.
So what does Twitter Blue bring?
If we remove the edit feature from the subscription model, what will Twitter Blue give us? The new subscription plan was originally going to cost $20 per month, although Elon Musk finally decided to reduce the price to $8 per month. For him, in addition to having a Verified accountwith the famous blue tick, we will also be able to have priority in the answers to leave before, the possibility of publishing longer videos and audios, priority support and much more.
In addition, Elon Musk has already announced that he is considering new advantages for his payment model, such as the possibility of add animations to profile picture. Although, at the moment, they are just ideas, far from being a reality.
The new Twitter Blue will reach all users on November 7 of this year. And, we imagine, from then on, all verified accounts so far will have to checkout or become standard accounts, without their distinctive blue tick.
