Universal Control functionality will not arrive until spring 2022

Universal control

One of the more attractive features that Apple announced in the past WWDC 2021 was Universal Control, a function that allows us to use the keyboard and mouse of our Mac with our iPad as well as allowing us to drag content between devices as if they were folders.

This ambitious function seems to is being a headache in Apphim, since, for the umpteenth time, he has modified the date of availability of this function on his website inviting us to wait, at the earliest, until the spring of next year, that is, until March 21, 2022 , we can forget about it.

One way to work on all your devices

The only thing you need to work with a Mac and an iPad, even with several, is a keyboard and a mouse or a trackpad. Move the cursor between Mac and iPad, type on Mac and see the text appear on iPad, or drag and drop content from one Mac to another

When Apple released macOS 12.1, it claimed that this new feature would be available in the fall of this year. In the different betas and final versions of macOS 12 that the Cupertino-based company has not yet seen this function implemented, implying that Apple has not just solved the problems that this function is presenting, a function that is compatible with the following devices:

  • MacBook Pro (2016 and later)
  • MacBook (2016 and later)
  • MacBook Air (2018 and later)
  • iMac (2017 and later)
  • iMac (27-inch 5K Retina, Late 2015)
  • iMac Pro, Mac mini (2018 and later)
  • Mac Pro (2019)
  • iPad Pro, iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad (6th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)

Hopefully Apple doesn’t delay this new feature any longer, as if it does, it will eventually have to integrate it into the next version of macOS, a new version that will be presented in June of next year and that, as we informed you a few days ago, could be called Mammoth.
