Upcoming Releases: Games February 2023

We return, after the Christmas break, to review the most notable game releases of the month. You already know that we are especially dedicated to those that land on PC, but we also take into account the most relevant releases on the market for the main consoles on the market, that is, PlayStation, Switch and Xbox.

February is usually a strange month in this senseYou already know that between November and December there are many launches for the Christmas campaign, and then January is usually a real dry spell, in which developers and distributors recover a bit from the frenetic pace of work of the last two months. of the year. February usually begins to mark the recovery of the rhythm, with some weaker years and others much more interesting. Although, of course, this interest is somewhat subjective, since it depends a lot on personal tastes and how many of the premieres coincide with them.

In this case, in February 2023, and especially its second fortnight, since during the first we only found two relevant releases, the list is interesting and varied, which is certainly appreciated, with some long-awaited titles and others that, although we have barely heard of them, are promising. But remember, be careful with expectations, because unfortunately we are more than used to seeing how they are subverted by reality. Ready for the review? Well let’s go with it.

If you enjoyed Deliver Us The Moon, you’ll be happy to know that this is its sequel, a title that inherits the most interesting features of its predecessor. You will play astronaut Kathy Johanson on a mission to recover a spacecraft stolen by a mysterious group, which will take you to the surface of the red planet in a post-apocalyptic context, in which the survival of humanity may depend on your success in the mission. .

Hogwarts Legacy

  • Release date: February 10, 2023
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Finally, except for surprises, the more than expected Hogwarts Legacy will debut this month, a game that has already suffered several delays, which could be justified if the title finally lives up to the expectations it has aroused, especially among the fan community and fans of the Harry Potter universe. We are facing an open-world RPG in which we can stick to following the plot, which promises to be quite rich, or explore all the locations that are already so familiar to us thanks to novels and movies.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line

Music from Final Fantasy (385 tracks, no less, this alone is already a complete claim for many) and a rhythm that oscillates between devilishly fast make up the new installment of a franchise known and loved by many Nintendo gamers. Recruit new characters, build teams, collaborate in multiplayer, and above all else, don’t miss a beat, even if the content on the screen seems to mesmerize you.

Imagine a medieval Japan, plagued by all kinds of monsters, and in which you have Karakuti (ancient and arcane technology), which you will have to use to face all those creatures that sow chaos and destruction in their path. Atomic Heart

  • Release date: February 21, 2023
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

When I spoke, at the beginning, of developments that have gone under the radar, I was thinking of Atomic Heart, an almost unknown title from an almost unknown studio but which, in view of the material from it that they have advanced, looks truly promising. . In the game you are a soldier who faces the uprising of some unstable machines that have rebelled against their masters to forge a new world, in a post-apocalyptic setting and with an aesthetic that drinks from more than relevant sources.

Like A Dragon: Ishin!

Connoisseurs of the Japanese video game market and, especially, followers of the Like A Dragon saga have been waiting for many years for the official arrival, in the West, of Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin!, which since 2014 and until now has only been available in the japanese market. In this adventure, players embody the historical hero Sakamoto Ryōma and participate in an epic samurai drama story, set in the Edo period of Japan.

Playstation VR2

  • Release date: February 22, 2023
  • platforms: PlayStation 5

In this case we are not talking about a game, but about a new gaming platform, with the second generation of the PlayStation virtual reality headset. Available exclusively for the new generation of the Sony console, and without backward compatibility with the titles of the first generation of VR, it comes with a complete selection of games, which we detail here.

Horizon Call of the Mountain

Of the more than thirty titles available for the launch of PlayStation VR2, I have decided to highlight the jump to virtual reality in the Horizon saga, one of the most outstanding exclusives in the Sony ecosystem. On this occasion we will play Ryas, a prisoner from Carja in charge of investigating a new threat on the rise in the apocalyptic lands that we have previously known while we traveled with Aloy.

Octopath Traveler II

  • Release date: February 24, 2023
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch

The unmistakable aesthetic of its predecessor returns, which we can call 2.5D, with a new adventure in which we will have to follow in the footsteps of eight heroes in the kingdom of Solistia, to which each of them arrives with a specific purpose, in a context in which their paths will cross. You will have to choose which paths to take, which heroes to follow and how much time you will spend in those beautiful diorama-like scenes.

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Kirby, one of the most iconic creatures in the Nintendo universe, returns in an updated version of the title that came to Nintendo Wii at the time. The game proposal is, therefore, similar, but let’s find a totally renewed environment, with an even more attractive visual aspect than the original and in which, as you can already suppose, we will have to make use of the characteristic abilities of this adorable creature.

Kerbal Space Program 2

  • Release date: February 25 (in Early Access mode)
  • platforms:pc

I’ve lost count of how long this game has been on my Steam wishlist. Announced years ago and delayed a thousand times, we are finally on the verge of a new version of one of the most interesting space exploration simulators we’ve seen in decades. Kerbal Space Program 2 promises to offer the same challenges as its predecessor and new ones, plus many more parts, options and even more realistic physics.

Destiny 2: Lightfall

  • Release date: February 28, 2023
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

The new expansion of Destiny 2 also arrives with a bit of a delay, but from what we have seen, it seems that the wait will have been worth it, since we are faced with a wide set of novelties, both aesthetic and plot, that promise to improve and update the gaming experience. .

Scars Above

  • Release date: February 28, 2023
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

If you like the horror genre and, at this point, you thought that February was not going to have anything remarkable for you, we have good news, since it is not like that (although by a hair’s breadth, because it debuts on the 28th) and if you like horror in space even more. Here we will embody the astronaut and scientist Kate, who wakes up on a hostile planet full of truly repellent alien creatures, but they cannot stop us in our mission to explore the world in which she finds herself.
