URVE Board Pi, another SBC alternative to the Raspberry Pi

Single-board minicomputers are in fashion due to the pull of the Raspberry Pi and every week we have news. If last week we introduced you to the Pico Pi 2, today we bring you the URVE Board Pi from the Polish manufacturer EVEO.

It’s the same size as a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, but includes some features that it doesn’t, including a M.2 connector for SATA storage or other accessories; support for Power over Ethernet, an integrated microphone, and support for an RTC battery.

The motor on the board is a Rockchip RK3566 SoC which is used in dozens of devices, SBC boards like this one or others like the PineTab2 tablet. It features four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores with speeds of up to 1.8 GHz, Mali-G52 graphics, and a Neural Processing Unit powered by up to 0.8 TOPS of AI performance. The SoC is accompanied by 2 Gbytes of RAM and 8 Gbytes of storage capacity that can always be expanded with microSD cards.

It is obvious that this board will not break performance records, but there is another section that is more remarkable: its connectivity. There’s support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity, a 40-pin header, a MIPI-DSI/LVDS display connector, and a MIPI-CSI camera connector. Besides. It has a good number of ports among which we can point out:

  • 1 Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1 HDMI 2.0
  • 1 USB 3.0 Type C (for 5V/2A debugging and/or power input)
  • 1 USB 3.0 Type A
  • 2 USB2.0
  • 1 microSD card reader
  • 1 MIPI DSI/LVDS
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio combo jack
  • 1 PoE connector
  • 1 Battery RTC
  • 1 recovery button
  • 2 LEDs

URVE Board Pi supports Android and Linux and is available on the manufacturer’s website for 90 dollars.
