We said that there are not two without three, but here is the fourth: Vivialdi 6.1, the fourth derivative of Chromium that leaves us with a new version this month, after Chrome, Brave and Microsoft Edge did the same. Unlike the rest, however, Vivaldi brings a few novelties to his credit.
First of all, the big news in Vivaldi 6.1 is… compatibility with Bing Chat, the one that Microsoft does not stop promoting, but that can only be used from its Edge browser. Well, in Vivaldi they have done their thing to bypass this limitation. As? As they did at the time with respect to Chrome, only now posing as Microsoft Edge.
It’s been almost three years since Vivaldi adopted the Chrome user agent to improve compatibility with websites, also achieving that “the GPU consumes less memory and resources, improves battery life, decreases unexpected closings and improves system stability. Now Vivaldi will impersonate Microsoft Edge when visiting Bingthus gaining access to the chat.
Another novelty in this version is the improvement of the workspaces, the great novelty of Vivaldi 6.0 and a most interesting feature, although for the moment it is only for those who use the browser on a single platform, because the improvement that was requested this function, synchronization between devices, is still missing. In what improvement, then? Add the option to manually reorder available slots from the menu in the tab bar.
Another thing that comes with this version, and this one is really cool, although it is a small thing that will only interest a certain type of user, is that Vivaldi 6.1 has implemented a new option with which copy tab links. As simple as that, yes, in the style of popular extensions like TabCopy, which Vivaldi users can save from now on.
The operation is equally simple: you have the option in the context menu of the tabs and if you want to copy more than one link at a time, simply select the tabs you want. As for the functionality, let’s say that it saves you the beating of going tab by tab selecting and copying the URL (quite a pain when you have to do it with many and, in addition, it is a task that you repeat from time to time).
Lastly, Vivaldi 6.1 gives a tweak to the appearance of the start wizard, the one you see just installed the browser and that helps you configure the basic aspects of it. It has been given a slight facelift for the occasion, nothing extraordinary.
But there is one thing that, although it does not belong to this version, may interest users of Vivaldi on iOS, and it is… the obvious: the browser is getting closer to being released on the Apple platform. When the time comes, we will tell you.
