The Windows App Store, the Microsoft Store, has become one of the most convenient places to find and download all kinds of applications for PC. However, at first it had very strict rules that prevented many programs, such as browsers that did not use the same engine as Edge, from landing on it. This has meant that the most popular web browsers, such as Google Chrome, do not reach this application store. And, although now the rules have changed and have become much more flexible, this type of program continues to arrive with a dropper.
After many years waiting for the possibility of being able to download our favorite browsers from the Microsoft Store, and taking advantage of the advantages that these types of applications offer us (better performance, more security, isolated spaces for each program, etc.), finally the browsers third-party apps are gradually landing on the Windows app store.
The first to do so was Firefox, Mozilla’s OpenSource browser, which for a few months now can be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Store on Windows. And, now, the new browser that has arrived at the store, and has overtaken Google Chrome again, has been Vivaldi.
What’s this? 🤩
We’ve seen the requests, and now the Vivaldi Browser is available on the #MicrosoftStore. We’re happy to see the increased #Availability for our users.

For those who do not know this browser, it is a alternative to google chrome, which uses the same engine (ie Chromium) and has been created by the creators of the popular Opera. This browser stands out for being ultra-light, ultra-fast, private and for being one of the most innovative in terms of its interface and functions. In addition, the developers have programmed this browser around privacy, so it is one of the best options that we can choose if we do not want large companies to end up taking our data.
What’s included in Vivaldi from the Microsoft Store on Windows
With this movement, the Vivaldi developers have wanted to show that they are still looking to offer users the best possible experience. As of today, this browser is already available in the Windows 10 and Windows 11 Microsoft Store, and all users who want to start using it can now download and try it from there.
This version of the Microsoft Store is identical to the version that we can download and install natively on the computer. The Vivaldi app for the Microsoft Store uses the same Chromium engine, is compatible with Chrome extensions, and has all the functions, features, and options that the main browser has. Of course, it has some improvements in terms of security and performance, due to the very nature of Windows UWP applications, since, by running within a safe and isolated environment, user data is kept more private.
In the Microsoft Store tab itself we can find some of the main features that the developers highlight in this browser:
- Workspaces to organize tabs.
- Double tab bar to keep them more organized.
- Possibility to see two tabs at the same time in the same window.
- Support for Chrome extensions.
- Keyboard and mouse shortcuts.
- Custom search engines.
- Vivaldi Apps: tools to take screenshots, manage mail, calendar and much more.
- Themes to customize the program.
