Vive Flow VR Headset Fits Automotive

One of the problems with virtual reality headsets is the seasickness effect induced by head movements compared to the VR experience. HTC raises the bar a notch by unveiling a system allowing you to take advantage of its Vive Flow headphones in the car.

The Vive Flow headset, launched last year by HTC, is intended for XR (“extended reality”) experiences of well-being and entertainment. The device, with an astonishing design, will adapt to the automobile! Passengers will be able to wear the headset on the road to enjoy games and movies without worrying about car jolts or seasickness.

A helmet for well-being, including in the car

HTC has partnered with Holoride, a company specializing in in-car entertainment, to seamlessly integrate Vive Flow into the car. The premise is to merge XR content with real-time vehicle movements, which can be abrupt. In fact, you should be able to wear the helmet in the car as well as at home.

HTC’s device has the advantage of lightness (189 grams), so it is more comfortable to wear than many other competitors. The manufacturer also intends the Vive Flow for mobile use: once connected to an Android 5G smartphone, it can indeed offer a whole range of content to experience in virtual reality. The branches incorporate speakers for 3D spatial sound, while in front of the eyes sits a 3.2K screen with a refresh rate of 75 Hz, for a field of vision of 100 degrees.

Added to this is the possibility of subscribing (€5.99 per month) to a catalog of content and applications on the themes of well-being, brain gymnastics, productivity and games. The Vive Flow costs €549. To use it in the car, however, it will be necessary to install a module to inform the helmet of the movements of the vehicle.
