Vivo Y55 5G and Y76 5G: when the entry range has a lot to say

Every so often terminals appear, like these Vivo Y55 5G and Y76 G5, which remind us that the playing field of the entry range is quite wide, and that it is also not isolated from the higher segments. Quite the contrary, it is common to see how with the passage of time, it begins to receive elements that originally seemed exclusive to the highest ranges. In other words, they democratize access to certain technologies.

This very morning we learned that the brand, Vivo, proposes the return of the Phablet format, with a very promising high-end device. And, with only a few hours of difference, the technology shows us that it continues without neglecting the input range, and that it contributes in this way, in addition, to the popularization of 5G connectivitywhich until relatively recently was within the reach of very few.

As you can see by reviewing the specifications of both models, let’s talk about twins again, although in this case it seems that the diet of one of them multiplied the nutritional value of the other. And I don’t want to say that the Y55 falls short, no, what I’m saying is that the X76 seems to want to dig its nails into the intersection between the input and mid ranges, and from its specifications it doesn’t seem to do badly.

In both cases, the first thing we see is a screen, similar in both devices, of 6.58 inches with FullHD + resolution, 2,400 x 1,080 points, with a refresh rate of 60 hertz. Already inside, we see that they also coincide in their engine, a Mediatek Dimensity 700 SoCa modest but successful integrated, composed of eight cores (two ARM Cortex-A76 at 2.2 gigahertz and six ARM Cortex-A55 at 2 gigahertz) and Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.

The first difference is found in the RAM memory, with the four gigabytes of the Vivo Y55 5G in front of the eight of the Y76. In both cases it is possible to “steal” a little more virtual memory from the device’s storage, one gigabyte in the Y55, which will go up to five gigabytes, and two in the case of the Y76, which in this way scales up to 10 gigabytes. In storage capacity, both offer 128 gigabytes, but the Y76 can also incorporate 256 gigabytes, and in both cases you can add up to a terabyte with a memory card.

In the connectivity section, as its name suggests, both terminals allow you to jump to 5Gand this section is complemented by WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC. For data transfer, both terminals have a USB-C port, which will also be the charging port. And here we find another difference. The battery of the Vivo Y55 5G is 5,000 milliampswith fast charging function 18 wattswhile that of Vivo Y76 5G drops to 4,100 milliampsbut offers fast charging function to 44 watts.

Regarding the photographic section, we see that both terminals seem to share the main camera, which is made up of three elements: a 50-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.8 number, a two-megapixel macro sensor, and a two-megapixel depth sensor. There are differences in the front camera, which in the Vivo Y55 is eight megapixels, while in the Y76 it jumps up to 16 megapixels.

The Vivo Y76 5G is already available in Spain, at a suggested retail price of €319 for the 128-gigabyte model, and €359 for the 256-gigabyte model. For its part, the Vivo Y55 5G can also be purchased in our country at a recommended retail price of 259 euros.
