VOD news 19/22: ‘Bosch: Legacy’, a sequel with background

VOD News brings you the best releases of the week on Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+… And since the week is presented relaxed in general terms, Bosch: Legacy It gives us the opportunity to talk about more things apart from premieres, although it seems that this section is only dedicated to that, which it is.

Said and done, let’s make room for Bosch: Legacynot without first remembering that this is the second consecutive week that an Amazon Prime Video release occupies the head of the section and if last week it was for the early release of no time to die, the latest film in the classic James Bond franchise, which did not come alone, but with all the others. But since it was done on Sunday and not on Saturday, which is when it is published VOD News… Well, that: what goes into the catalog includes the twenty-six 007 films, for which Prime Video has saved its own space on the platform that you will see as you enter. But many more things enter.

going already with Bosch: Legacyit is a direct derivative of Bosch, one of the first Prime Video original series and one of the oldest as well, whose seventh and final season came out last year. Why then does it show up now Bosch: Legacy and not an eighth season of Bosch. Very good question… for which there is not a really satisfactory answer, considering also that it is one of the best valued series of all those produced by Amazon.

The curious thing about the case is that Bosch: Legacy is a direct continuation of Bosch, with the same writers and, of course, the protagonist, who is none other than Harry Bosch, played by Titus Welliver. As for the series itself, it is the typical realistic and serious police drama that has been made for television for years, but that does not mean that it should be detracted from: as I say, Bosch is one of the most acclaimed series on Amazon Prime Video and it seems that Bosch: Legacy goes on the same line.

When you see the trailer (virtual smack to Prime Video Spain for not putting it with some sad subtitles) of Bosch: Legacy, however, you will be able to observe that it does not appear as an original series of Prime Video, even though it is, but of freevee, a service also owned by Amazon in which under certain conditions -especially, regarding devices- it includes a multitude of movies and series, also originals like the one at hand, free with advertising. But since it has not yet arrived in Spain, we leave the reference as a warning to navigators.

In short, it may seem obvious that a sequel like Bosch: Legacy have a history, but the tagline has a double meaning. For this reason (what will come with freevee, which will give something to talk about) and because a series like Bosch, seems to be, with exceptions, the antithesis of what is produced today, the place of honor is his. Or rather of Bosch: Legacy. Learn, Netflix.

…And, if you just want to go for the flashiest thing Netflix has released this week, The Pentavirate has no competition. It’s not that the series is like launching rockets, but it starts well and at least gets out of the usual dirt of the platform. And it is that The Pentavirate is the latest from Canadian filmmaker and comedian Mike Myers (Wayne’s World, austin powers), with all the good and the bad that this entails… or with all the crazy and the craziest that this entails. Take a look at the trailer, although Netflix has also clicked on this and it’s only in English.

It is the turn of HBO Max and there is little to tell, but we will tell. In fact, following the example of Netflix and since I always repeat that quality is better than quantity…

The Staircase is a new HBO Max original miniseries in which the first thing that jumps out at you is an A-list cast: Colin Firth (The king’s speech, Mamma Mia), Tony Colete (The sixth Sense, hereditary), Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, Three colors: blue), Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones, X Men), followed by the story, based on the case of American writer Michael Peterson, who was convicted of murdering his wife. For not disappointing with the tradition of HB0 in this type of drama, the series has dazzled critics. From the director of The devil at all hours

And finally, Disney+, which barely adds a handful of things to the catalog while it breathes before launching a new original: if this week the last chapter of moon knightObi-Wan Kenobi is expected by the end of the month. Meanwhile, to consume the accumulated, which is quite a lot.
