VU prepares to conquer Europe … from Spain

VU wants to turn Spain into its hub of operations for its expansion in Europe. The company, specialized in the protection of identities to prevent digital fraud, confirms that after becoming strong in Latin America, the time has come to conquer the old continent.

For this, the company has explained that it will constitute a hub in Spain, intensifying its operations since 2022, which, among other things, will lead to doubling its workforce. The company that has experienced a strong increase in the demand for its solutions from the pandemic caused by COVID-19, offers a comprehensive cybersecurity platform, focusing on the protection of the life cycle of people’s digital identity.

Founded in 2007 by Sebastian Stranieri, today it has more than 170 clients in 27 countries, including governments, banks, retail and health companies, and protects more than 350 million people: “without cybersecurity there is no viable digital transformation. Through our experiences, we seek to secure the digital assets of our clients through a platform and innovative solutions that establish a robust and comprehensive strategy ”, he says. Since VU’s inception, two rounds of funding have been successfully completed. The first took place in 2017, worth $ 4.5 million. The second round was held in June 2021 for a value of $ 12 million. The investment consortium on this occasion included Agre Partners, NXTP, ArFintech, BID Lab, Redwood Ventures, Bridgeone, Globant and Telefónica, which It carried out the investment through Wayra and which it manages through Telefónica Tech Ventures.

The company was recognized in instances such as the Santander X Tomorrow Challenge (2020), the Santander X 100 (2021), Cybersecurity Ventures Ranking 500; and by Microsoft as: AI Latam Partner of the Year (2021), Global Finalists in IA and Government (2021) and as Country Partner of the Year (Argentina, 2019 and Bolivia, 2020) In addition, in 2020 VU formalized an alliance with Eleven Paths, the cybersecurity company of the Telefónica group, now part of Telefónica Tech.

As an advantage of its portfolio, VU allows to manage the entire life cycle of the person’s digital identity. The company and its products are aligned with the European regulation that ensures the regulation of personal data and the safe use of information (GDPR). Also, it supports its customers given the need of users with the right to be forgotten, one of the spaces that, according to the company, will grow the most in the coming years.
