Wakanda Forever’, long live the king

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Backstabbing: The Glass Onion Mystery, Strange world either Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro are some of the most anticipated movie releases of the many that are scheduled for this month of November that has just begun. And since they don’t all fit, we select as always the most outstanding in this, our monthly section, dedicated to the seventh art.

Go ahead, here we collect, mainly, that not only, the most mainstream, so if you consider yourself a complete movie buff, this is not your section, nor is this your site. But if you feel like going to the movies and you are simply looking for a friendly reminder of what you are going to find on the billboard, then it will help you, beyond Black Panther and else. And without spoilers!

In fact, to see Black Panther: Wakanda Forever you still have to put up with a week, let alone Backstabbing: The Glass Onion Mystery. However, you already have interesting movie premieres and if you don’t want to wait or you skip the movies and prefer to see everything at home, you have the premieres on online platforms every week at VOD News.

Movie premieres on November 3 and 4

Today, November 3, the first of the releases scheduled for this month opens in theaters and now what it is: One Piece Film Reda new film -the fifteenth already- based on the popular adventure anime.

If you are not for drawings and you feel like something more serious, Friday comes to the big screen The Prodigyan Irish production directed by Chilean Sebastián Lelio (disobedience, Gloria Bell) and starring Florence Pugh (midsummer, black widow) in which you will find sobriety and mystery in equal parts. From the cinema to Netflix this one goes.

Another one that goes from the movies to Netflix is Bardo, false chronicle of a few truths. The new film by Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman, the reborn) is a groundbreaking dramedy with aspirations for prizes that, against all odds, is not being too popular with those who have had the opportunity to see it during its festival run.

If Spanish cinema is your thing, there are several premieres taking place this weekend, although don’t look in the eyes is in all probability the most prominent. A drama with hints of thriller directed by Felix Viscarret (Homeland) and starring Paco León (Aida, Plague), Juan Diego Botto (Stories from the Kronen, Martin (Ache)) or Eleanor Watling (Talk to her, The Oxford Murders), among others.

Movie premieres on November 11

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

For the weekend of the second week of November comes what is called to be the blockbuster of the month: Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverthe sequel to the soporific, but successful Black Panther original, without its great asset, the sadly deceased Chadwick Boseman. And they do not point to any improvement in the trailer, but to Caesar what is Caesar’s.

as bestas is the new film by Rodrigo Sorogoyen (Riot gear, stories not to sleep), a Spanish-Franco co-production set in deep Galicia in the form of a rural drama with a flash of suspense and a touch of social denunciation that may sound like a hodgepodge, because it is, but it had a devastating preview among critics.

Another European drama that is giving people something to talk about, although not in all cases for the better, is memories of paris, the French production chosen to represent the country at the next Oscar Awards ceremony. As a background, the Islamic terrorism suffered in France in the last decade.

One of different animation and with a lot of history and legend to its credit: Icarus and the minotaur, a Luxembourgish production for the whole family that can be a risky bet, but at least it feels fresh. The visual style that it proposes would make an interesting game out of the plot.

Movie premieres on November 18

For the penultimate week of November, the premiere of Armageddon Timethe new film by James Gray (Ad Astra, the lost city of z) and one that is preceded by excellent reviews and with signs of sweeping the awards season. It is a hackneyed drama where they exist, but well tied according to what is said and with a first class cast: Anne Hathaway (The Miserables, interstellar), Anthony Hopkins (The silence of the lambs, what’s left of the day), Jessica Chastain (Molly’s Game, Secrets of a marriage)…

Scary releases are scarce just after Halloween, but there is something. Starring Christina Ricci (the addams family, Sleepy Hollow), monsters it’s a thriller whose trailer, it seems, has a point of deception, so perhaps it was necessary to add a psychological… But you never know.

Do not miss any action either: the perfect robberthe new film by Allan Ungar, best known for having directed the ‘fan film’ of Uncharted Than for everything else he’s done. For this one, yes, she surrounds herself with a casting powerful headed by Josh Duhamel (Like life itself, Jupiter’s Legacy), Mel Gibson (brave heart, lethal weapon) or Elisha Cuthbert (House of Wax, 24), among others.

Kings against Santa is a Spanish comedy for the whole family whose title says it all and whose proposal smacks of sloppiness without palliatives… But sloppiness also entertains and not only that. If not, let them tell Amazon, who has kept it for the purpose of releasing it on Prime Video this Christmas, taking advantage of the time. A frikada that, if there is something strange, is that they talk about Santa and not Santa Claus…

Movie premieres on November 23, 24 and 25

For the penultimate week of November, the last week for practical purposes in which movie premieres are concerned, the most outstanding bet is that of Backstabbing: The Glass Onion MysteryNetflix production and sequel to the original title of 2019. Another black comedy in which Rian Johnson repeats in the direction and Daniel Craig in the leading role, who will be accompanied by a huge cast full of familiar faces: Edward Norton (Fight club, American History X), Ethan Hawke (gattaca, Training day), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, dunes), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, The Matrix Resurrections)…

And more Netflix movies that you will be able to see before in theaters: Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro. An adaptation of the children’s classic somewhat in the style of the recent Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, with the name of the Mexican director in the foreground, which may well mean that his vision clouds everything… And it doesn’t have to be bad, quite the opposite. It is an animated film with Stop Motion, but after the absolute disaster of Disney with its grotesque adaptation of live action, as if it had been shot with toothpicks.

Speaking of Disney, at the end of the month Strange worlda new animated film as part of its classic feature films, in charge of which is the studio of Charm and Don Hall, responsible for titles such as Big Hero 6, Vaiana or most recent Raya and the last dragon. From the cinema to Disney +, of course, with the standard margin.

month ends level hardcore What the king womana period story supposedly based on real events with very current ingredients: bad whites, good blacks, empowered women… In all honesty, it picks up the terrible European presence in Africa and, instead of forcing any inclusion, puts the authentic protagonists where it corresponds, in addition, with a powerful cast: Viola Davis (How to defend a murderer, fences), John Boyega (starwars, Pacific Rim: Uprising), Lashana Lynch (no time to die, Captain Marvel), Thuso Mbedu (the underground railway, Scandal!)… Heads will roll.

The icing on the cake is this: Swiss-made quince frikada… like the cheese itself. Or like Heidi herself, the angelic character who, in this new adaptation, does not give one or two, but a few more turns of the screw. In summary, Mad Heidi «it’s milk, it’s brutal»… literally: comedy, horror, gore and more, all crappy, in your trusted cinema.
