Since March 1, 2023, new rules have come into force to further regulate cold calling. According to these measures, call centers must comply with specific schedules. Unfortunately, the situation seems unchanged according to many testimonies.
As you may know, since March 1, 2023, new provisions have come into force to regulate cold calling. These measures were presented by Olivia Grégoire, the Minister Delegate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Trade, Crafts and Tourism.
According to the decree of October 13, 2022, call centers can since March 1, 2023 canvass their customers only from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Any calls on weekends and public holidays are strictly prohibited.
The abuses of cold calling persist
Well, that’s on paper. In the facts, these new schedules are still far from being respectedas proven by numerous testimonials from exasperated users on social networks.
“So the law has changed on cold calling but obviously is not respected, what to do please? Calls with an O6 when it is forbidden and calls between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., also forbidden!”, denounces a user on Twitter.

New provisions totally ignored
“I have just been canvassed for a heat pump?? I’ve been playing Zelda all morning, am I really concerned? ironically another. These two testimonies alone highlight the flagrant non-compliance with recent measures. Because, the new regulatory framework strictly prohibits canvassing with numbers starting with 06 and 07.
Normally, professionals must adopt series of telephone numbers starting with 0162, 0163, 0270, 0271, 0377, 0378, 0424, 0425, 0568, 0569, 0948 and 0949 in metropolitan France. Besides, the text also prohibits canvassing in the energy renovation sector. A detail visibly forgotten by some companies as this second tweet proves.
The recent survey conducted by France Television drives the point home and underlines how the situation remains unchanged. In the news at 1 p.m. this Wednesday, March 29, a woman complains in particular that she received a commercial call at 8:30 a.m..
However, the new sanctions provided for in the event of violation of these rules are discouraging: a fine of up to €75,000 for a natural person and up to €375,000 for a legal person.
