CODA, the film that did not leave the United States
Just a year ago it was known that Apple TV + had taken over the rights to this film at the Sundance Film Festival, snatching the feature film from other major platforms such as Amazon Prime and keeping it exclusively. It was finally released on August 6, 2021being so far the only Apple TV + movie that cannot be seen in all countries, being limited only to the United States.
Beyond this, CODA tells the story of young Ruby, played by Emily Jones, and that she is caught in the dilemma between pursuing her dreams and going to university or staying in the care of her family. A family that has certain peculiarities because they are all deaf, so Ruby’s decision is at least tricky and brings her more than one upset throughout the film.
Macbeth, from controversy to success
This film, for its part, is available in all countries where Apple TV + is, having premiered worldwide on January 14. Created by the prestigious A24 studio, it is a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s well-known play The Tragedy of Macbeth. In fact, in its original title it is called that, despite the fact that in Spanish it was simply translated as Macbeth.
That Denzel Washington was the interpreter brought a lot of controversy because of his skin color. Yes, in the 21st century, but fortunately his acting skills put aside the purism (and racism) of many to leave us with a brilliant adaptation in which the young Scottish Lord intends to become the King of Scotland at all costs.
