There have been many announcements, we summarize the program for the next few years in the Star Trek galaxy.
“Four years ago, we promised to make Star Trek something that had never been done before, and thanks to the hard work of our many showrunners, writers and directors, as well as the incredible support of CBS and Paramount, we keep our word”. This is how Alex Kurtzman, executive producer of the Star Trek franchise began his series of announcements this Tuesday, January 18.
A conference entirely devoted to the license created by Gene Roddenberry in 1966, which was above all an opportunity to discuss the projects in progress at Viacom CBS and Paramount. Star Trek: Discovery gets a season 5
It’s the glue of this vast universe, so Discovery will continue its journey for at least another season. Launched in 2017, the series by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman landed a fifth season, even before the end of its fourth burst of episodes. Moreover, new chapters will be released on February 10.
We find there Burnham who was given command of the USS Discovery. The character will have to fight to offer a bright future to all his crew under the flag of the Federation. His first mission will be perilous. As a reminder, Discovery is no longer available on Netflix. It is now Pluto TV which offers exclusivity, with linear distribution. Slots not to be missed and which will be offered exclusively in VF.
Picard returns on March 3
With the stoppage of production, following the discovery of many Covid cases within the teams, one could fear a postponement of the launch of picard. Finally, things should not take too long since the return of the character camped by Patrick Stewart is announced for the March 3 next, instead of the end of February.
A third season is already on the program, the shooting should take place directly after the production of this second burst of episodes. We should no longer have to wait two years to find Jean-Luc Picard.

The journey continues for Strange New Worlds
While we have not yet been able to get our hands on this new series stamped Star Trek, Paramount has already decided to renew it. Between prequel and spin-off, Strange New Worlds will follow the adventures of the USS Enterprise, before James Kirk takes control.
We will therefore find some actors of the series Discovery, including Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck. New actors will also be there, such as Celia Rose Gooding, Jess Bush and Babs Olusanmokun. The first season is due to launch on May 5 in the United States.
Lower Decks renewed
The animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks should be back this summer. A long third season of ten episodes, which will not be the last. It has just been renewed and thus obtains 10 additional episodes, which will probably be broadcast in 2023.
Note also that Prodigy will return later in 2022, after the broadcast of the first half of its season 1. We do not yet know the exact date of this return.
