What is the European Ecolabel

The European Ecolabel is a badge, represented with a green-stemmed flower crowned by the letter “e” and the stars of the European flag, that recognizes those products that have extraordinary environmental characteristics. Currently, more than 37,000 products marketed in Europe carry the EU Ecolabel, which means that they meet strict ecological criteria.

Its objective is to help European consumers to identify the most environmentally friendly products and services.

Created in 1992, the European Ecological Label constitutes an important part of the community policy of voluntary instruments to help companies and consumers to improve their environmental performance. The EEE is one of the instruments included in the Community Action Plan for Sustainable Production and Consumption and Sustainable Industrial Policy, according to CSR Commitment.

The objective is to promote products that can reduce adverse environmental effects, compared to other products in the same category, thus contributing to a efficient use of resources and to a high level of environmental protection. This objective is achieved by providing consumers with accurate, non-misleading and science-based guidance and information on such products.
