It was only a matter of time. After all Marvel series were canceled on Netflix, it was obvious that the characters would one day be joining the MCU. This makes all the more sense that Disney + is now also developing series stamped by the Maison des Idées. The appearance of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil was no longer really a surprise, since several images had been shared on the net.

As a reminder of the facts, in the series Daredevil, Matt Murdock is played by Charlie Cox. Launched in 2017 on our screens, it follows the adventures of the lawyer as he navigates between his life as a citizen and that of justice. Having become blind following an accident, he has developed extraordinary abilities which make him a formidable fighter. With the mission of ridding Hell’s Kitchen of organized crime, he sets out in pursuit of Wilson Fisk also known as the Kingpin. Moreover, the latter has just appeared in Hawkeye. We could therefore hope to see the two protagonists again soon, on the small or the big screen.

It remains to be seen if showrunner Steven S. DeKnight will also be there. Marvel will undoubtedly have wanted to ensure that the tone and the universe of the character will be respected, by calling on experts.

Ned has powers

What sounded like a joke at the start of the movie, ultimately wasn’t. As he explains to Doctor Strange that magic circulates in his family, Peter Parker’s best friend is kindly put in his place by the former wizard supreme. He later finds out, while using Strange’s ring, that he was well endowed with magic. He inadvertently makes a portal appear, which had taken Strange a long time. Would he be more powerful than him?

However, in the comics, Ned is only a fellow journalist of Peter Parker. He is also not the most famous character in the universe, since it is often Harry Osborn who is mentioned. In the films, he is played by James Franco and Dane DeHaan, respectively in the Sam Raimi trilogy and in The Amazing Spider-Man.

If the second trilogy briefly announced by the Sony producer does see the light of day, the writers may choose to make Ned, another antagonist, an enemy brother who will turn against him in the future. By the way, Ned refers to this betrayal of Harry Osborn briefly in the lab.

The Amazing Spider-Man hasn’t met his GM

He was there, as was Tobey Maguire. The two previous incarnations of Spider-Man are found on the screen thanks to small spatio-temporal manipulations. A golden opportunity for fans to find out what happens to the characters after the end credits. If Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker seems to be having happy days with Mary-Jane, Andrew Garfield’s has obviously not recovered from Gwen’s death.

He was nevertheless offered some redemption when he saved MJ (Zendaya) from a fall to his death. A rather obvious parallel with the scene from The Amazing Spider-Man, in which he fails to save his girlfriend.

The Sinister Six almost complete

Electro, L’Homme-Sable and Doctor Octopus, all the villains of this team well known to comic book readers were there. All ? Not really since the Vulture and Rhino were missing. For the first, this is not very surprising since it has already been put out of harm’s way in the first part of the adventures of the character played by Tom Holland. For the second, it is mentioned by Andrew Garfield who explains having fought a guy who thought he was a rhino. Mystério meanwhile died in the second opus, so all that remains is Le Camélon, which has never been mentioned yet.

A black Spider-Man?

During a conversation, Electro always confides having imagined a black Spider-Man. A rather obvious reference to Miles Morales, hero of the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Can we see this as a call of the foot on the part of the studios, which could make meet Tom Holland and the protagonist embodied by Shameik Moore? We hope so. A second movie is slated for next year and Tom Holland has already lent his voice to other animated characters, as in Forward where he gave the answer to Chris Pratt.

Great power …

The sentence was not uttered by Uncle Ben, absent from the saga since the first film released in 2017. It is therefore May who instills a last lesson in life to her nephew, before passing the weapon to the left . The iconic phrase has been uttered, and necessarily refers to the character’s deaths in the two previous sagas. As with them, this is a tipping point in the plot, except this time around Peter can count on his alter-egos to guide him.

Venom comes home

We finally know why Venom and Eddy Brock found themselves in the reality of Peter Parker. As they moved through two different universes, they found themselves in the same sequel to the spell cast by Doctor Strange. Strictly speaking, they haven’t crossed paths, but Venom left a little gift for the friendly neighborhood spider. A small piece of the symbiote which could, as in the first film, take its suitcases to reach the United States. Since he needs a host powerful enough to endure him, we can expect him to invest Peter Parker’s body at some point.

A Spider-Man 4?

Since the launch of the promotion of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel and Sony keep repeating that this is the conclusion of Spider-Man’s adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Still, days before the film’s release, the producer confided that another MCU film was in the works. It must be said that the end of No Way Home does not close the door to a return of the character played by Tom Holland. However, things are obviously not done according to the actor who confided a few days ago not to have concluded an agreement with the studios. The CEO of Sony has nevertheless provided some details on the contract that links the firm to Disney.

“They loaned us a character, so we’re going to loan them one too. This is how Benedict Cumberbatch got to find himself in the film, so we still have a foray into the MCU ”.

He did not however give more information on the continuation of the solo adventures of Peter Parker. Yes No Way Home fulfills its box office goals, which it shouldn’t have a hard time doing, it’s easy to imagine that the studios will probably not want to deprive themselves of this real goose that lays the golden eggs. We will nevertheless have to wait for more official statements than those made to Variety to get to the bottom of it.

Doctor Strange is no longer the Sorcerer Supreme

It’s a small piece of the plot that says a lot about what happens next for Stephen Strange. We indeed learn that following the Blip, the wizard was removed from these functions in favor of Wong. He also no longer has the Time Stone, which was destroyed by Thanos in Endgame.

One less trump card in Strange’s round, as he prepares to take on a very powerful foe, in Into the Multiverse of Madness. We also notice that it takes a long time to get out of the mirror dimension, would it be less powerful than in the past or simply less good at math than Peter Parker?

A post-credit scene as a trailer

This is a first in the history of the MCU. Instead of the second post-credit scene, Sony has unveiled a trailer for the upcoming Marvel. Scheduled for May 2022 on our screens, Doctor Strange: Into the Multiverse of Madness was revealed in a teaser to say the least chatty. We learn in particular that the antagonist will not be Wanda Maximoff as one could imagine, but Dark Strange. The character introduced in Marvel What if? should put the box on the space-time continuum, and it will be up to our Stephen Strange to put some order. For this, he can count on the red witch.

Until then, we can still expect Marvel to unveil another trailer, hopefully with less detail on the plot of the film. More than ever, the House of Ideas seems to be struggling to hold its tongue and unabashedly shares some key elements of its upcoming films. What spoil our pleasure? Probably a little.
