What you should know about the summary of notifications on iPhone

Requirements to be met to use it

One of the first aspects to take into account is that it is a feature that requires a specific version of software. That is why it is imposed as a requirement that the version of iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 must be installed on the iPhone or iPad, although higher versions are also supported. This is because this is a notification feature that was added starting with iOS 15. If you have a lower version, you will not be able to find these features in the notification settings.

Beyond this, there is no requirement as such when it comes to the hardware itself. It is true that it is a characteristic that it is limited to iPhones and iPads. You can’t use it on a Mac, for example, but you can’t use it on an Apple Watch either. Although, it is on an iPhone where it can make much more sense to have a summary of notifications, since it is where they are consulted practically daily. In addition, being directly connected to the Apple Watch, in the end it will also be possible to have this function indirectly when working with notifications.

Is it customizable?

Obviously, for a feature that is built into the operating system to be ultimately suitable, it must meet some basic requirements. The main one is the possibility of customization. As we will see much later, it will be possible to personalize the applications that enter the summary of the applications. In this case, the vital thing is to choose those services that may interest you the most, especially if you have many applications installed. In general, this makes it possible to have ato a large number of notifications on a daily basis, and that is why the summary of notifications must always be completely personalized.

As we have mentioned before, the summary of notifications groups together a large number of notifications from all the services that you have installed. But the important thing is when all these notifications are received. Another aspect of customization that you will find among the settings is the specific time at which this group will appear in the notification center. In this way what is achieved is to have absolute control

The way to activate it

By default, this summary is always off. And that is why if you are interested you will be able to activate it in the device settings in a comfortable way. In this case, the steps to follow to activate it are the following:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Scroll to the section notifications, which is in the middle of the settings.
  3. Turn on the switch right next to Scheduled Summary.

Once this is done, some options that are default. But what we are going to recommend in these cases is to carry out a customization process to adjust it in all possible aspects. In this case we analyze the possibility of adding the applications and also changing the time in which the grouping of the same will appear.

Add new apps to summary

As we have said, the most fundamental aspect of customization is to add new applications to the summary. In this case, you have to be smart and only opt for those apps that are important to you. In this case, you can opt for messaging services, social networks, banking applications… But those that do not give you absolutely nothing are better not to be in this summary. To be able to add applications you simply have to follow the following steps.

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications > Scheduled Digest, then turn on Scheduled Digest.
  2. Under “Apps in summary,” select the apps you want to include in the notification summary.

To be able to select them, you will simply have to choose which ones you activate and which ones you deactivate. That is, you have a complete list with all the applications that are installed on the device and with the switches you can choose them.

Change the time of an alert

In addition to the applications, you must also choose to change the schedule. Some people prefer to have this summary before going to sleep, but you can also choose to have it displayed first thing in the morning. It should also be noted that it should not be limited to a single time, since different times can be added to receive this summary. For example, you can make it to receive it every hour that passes. In this case, the steps to follow are the following:

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications > Scheduled Digest, then turn on Scheduled Digest.
  2. In the Schedule section, press the Add + button to add a new schedule or the Delete button – to delete a schedule. Next, set the time for each scheduled digest you’ve set up.

From that moment on, notifications will appear in the notification center whenever the corresponding time is met. Without a doubt, it is a great section to take into account and that will allow you to have all the apps at the most important hours of your day.
