WhatsApp voice messages are perfect when you’re in a hurry or want to make sure your message’s intonation is delivered correctly and is not open to interpretation. As we saw last summer, WhatsApp will now allow you to listen to them before sending them. Until now, when you recorded a message, the app sent it directly as soon as you let go of the button.

WhatsApp has just added a preview feature for voicemail messages, allowing you to check if your message is clear enough for your recipient. You will thus be able to modify the voice message before sending it if it does not suit you. As a reminder, if you are the one receiving a voice message, you can change the speed at which the audio message is read.

How to listen to voicemail messages on WhatsApp before they are sent?

The message preview feature works the same as it does on other messaging apps where it is available. Here’s how to preview voicemail messages:

  • Open chat
  • Press and slide the microphone up to lock hands-free recording.
  • Start talking
  • When finished, press the stop button.
  • Press play to listen to your recording. You can also tap any part of the recording to play it from that point on.
  • Tap the trash can to delete the voicemail message, or tap “send” to send it.

The Meta-owned mail service said the feature has been slowly rolled out over the past few weeks, and that it is now available on all platforms, including iOS, Android, web, and desktop. For now, iPhone users might experience some issues with their app, as we’ve learned that a bug is crashing it on iOS. Indeed, some users are not able to access their contacts or their messages, but we imagine that it will soon be corrected.
