What does the yellow light on the Amazon Echo mean?
Lucky for you, Alexa’s yellow light it is not due to any type of error. It is usually accompanied by a short tone, and is normally activated in the morning.
The yellow light serves to let the user know that he has pending notifications. This notice can be used to let us know about some kind of new implementation of Alexa, or some interesting promotion. However, the vast majority of the time, what the yellow light is telling us is that we will receive a package from Amazon that same day.
If you are so calm in the morning at home and suddenly you hear the notification tone and the light turns yellow, what Alexa will be telling you is that your Amazon order has just been delivered. To read the notification, simply say the following: «Alexa, read notifications».
Automatically, Alexa will tell you that you have an Amazon Shopping notification, and it will tell you the products that you are going to receive.
Watch out for the yellow light
You already know what the yellow light means, so be careful. If you are a foresighted person, you may buy many gifts for Christmas some time in advance, taking advantage of events such as Black Friday. Well, be careful with this warning, because it could spoil Christmas as if it were the Grinch.
When you tell Alexa to read notifications to you, it will say out loud the name of the item you ordered. If the person who is going to receive that gift is present—or is unlucky enough to ask Alexa the question—the surprise is over.
Eliminate the Alexa yellow notice for gifts
If you don’t want Alexa to do spoilers of the items you buy as a gift, you can configure it easily through the app. Do the following:
- open the alexa apps on your mobile phone.
- Go to ‘Plus‘. It is located in the lower right corner of the interface.
- Enter the section ‘Setting‘.
- Tap on ‘Notifications‘.
- Enter now in the section ‘Shopping with Amazon‘.
- Uncheck the box ‘Include products that could be gifts‘.
Once these simple steps are done, Alexa will no longer send you notifications of products that could be considered gifts. However, we have to point out here that if you do this, you will most likely stop receiving Alexa notifications for Amazon deliveries. But you shouldn’t worry, because you can check the Orders tab on your mobile phone at any time and be clear about the days you shouldn’t leave home so you don’t miss a delivery.
