Why is it a bad idea to use Intel Unison to sync mobile and PC?

Unison is the tool that allows us to synchronize our mobile terminal with a PC that has an Intel processor and in which the Windows 11 operating system has been installed. Regardless of whether it is iPhone or Android. Is it worth installing this application on our computer? How does it affect its performance? Are there other better alternatives?

Today, we have adapted both the computer and the mobile phone to our daily life, so much so that it is normal for many people to end up making both devices work synchronously on a day-to-day basis. Therefore, the applications that allow us to use both devices at the same time and that allow a transition between one and the other in use are highly valued. One of them is Intel’s Unison, which, if we are to be honest, has left us very disappointed in what it offers compared to other alternatives available on the market.

What’s not to like about Intel Unison?

Well yes, let’s start with the negative, since our disappointment is capital. The reason? To use the application it is necessary that we have a computer that has an Intel Core 13 processor with Intel EVO certification. No other is valid and there is no reason or justification to limit the people who can use it not only to a specific brand, but to an exclusive family of products, since it does not make use of any function that can only be done with said hardware, including:

  • Mobile notifications on the PC and vice versa.
  • Being able to read text messages from the PC.
  • Being able to transfer files automatically and without the need for cables through the medium between the computer and the smartphone.
  • Allows you to make calls from your PC using its Bluetooth interface with your mobile.

The problem by which it is limited is the fact that it does not allow us to see the mobile screen on the PC and be able to continue the work from there. Which is understood from the moment that to achieve compatibility with Android and iPhone at the same time it is necessary to remove this useful feature, among many others. This is due to the inability of Windows to run the applications for iPad OS and iPhone.

There are better alternatives

A better alternative to Unison is Phone Link from Microsoft itself, which is built-in as standard in both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Unfortunately, the devices we can use it with are limited to a few devices from Microsoft itself, One Plus and Samsung.

In particular, in order to continue using mobile applications on the PC, which often depends on the manufacturer of the phone and which is one of the functions of the Apple ecosystem that we miss in Windows, but that users of the brand Cupertino do not suffer from using the same operating system on all their devices. It is already known, advantages of using a closed ecosystem and, therefore, totally controlled by them.
