Why isn’t Apple Pay in your bank yet?

Apple Pay is an app with which you can pay with your mobile or Apple Watch thanks to NFC technology. It is being used by more and more people all over the world since it is a very comfortable way to carry out your credit tasks on your mobile, but there are certain banks where this function is not yet available. In this article we tell you in which banking entities you cannot use Apple Pay.

Apple Pay is a digital wallet that securely stores your debit or credit card information within the app. It can replace your physical debit card, which means you can leave home with just your phone to make purchases. You can use the app to make contactless payments both in physical stores and online using only your iPhone or Apple device, such as an Apple Watch.

To set up Apple Pay you just have to follow these simple steps:

  1. Make sure you have a compatible device and debit card. You’ll first need to make sure your phone is compatible (iPhone 6 or newer), and that you have an eligible debit card from a participating bank.
  2. Add your card. Go to the Wallet app on your iPhone and click on the “+” sign available at the top right of the screen to add a new card. Enter the security details of your card and wait for the verification of your bank. Once verified, your card will appear within Wallet and you can start using Apple Pay.

If you want to use Apple Pay on your Apple Watch, you’ll first need to add your card to the watch. You can do this through the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Once your card has been successfully added, you can use your Apple Watch to make purchases. You have to press the button on the side of the watch twice and place the screen on the payment terminal. You will feel a slight touch or vibration, which means that your purchase has been made successfully.

Banks where it is not available

Although most banks already have this service, there are still some that have not yet incorporated it for various reasons. The list of available banks is much longer than those without. If you are thinking of changing banks and want to have Apple Pay, here is a list of banks that do not have it:

  • EasyPayment Services
  • The English Court
  • PayrNet
  • Repsol

It should be noted that some brands on this list are not banks as such, but companies that offer the possibility of issuing credit or debit cards with certain characteristics similar to those of banks. In fact, they are not registered in the List of relevant institutions for payment statistics of the Bank of Spain, so before contracting any of these services, make sure of the conditions and requirements that are requested.
