Why Max Payne Deserved a Remaster

Surely there is no name in the world within the world of video games that tells us as much as that of Max Payne. A game released in 2001 that caused a sensation for some of the ideas it brought but, above all, for the impressive narrative of a dark story in the underworld of a big city. A character who, unfortunately, would not later be allowed to taste the honeys of success. Do you know why?

Two games to die killing

Between 2001 and 2003, two extraordinary games came onto the market that, in some way, we could say they mark a before and after for many players. Max Payne is, for those who do not know, the creator of what has been called in many titles such as bullet timea technique through which our protagonist can slow down time and act with a certain advantage over enemies, reacting quickly to any projectile that appears on the screen.

But not only for that aspect is he remembered, also for the plot of death and revenge that touches the protagonist and that plunges him into a spiral of hatred and destruction towards everything around him. As if that were not enough, Remedy’s technical work on those two wonders was extraordinary, creating an atmosphere never seen in a video game with such a level of detail (for the time). Every step we took in any of the Max Payne It was a trip to a sordid world with characters each more despicable and with an anthological comic touch.

Now why Max Payne and Max Payne 2 Would they deserve an update and return to the present like the one announced now? At this point, there are two fundamental reasons. The first is that we find ourselves in a scenario where remastering is our daily bread. Mafiafor example, has been one of the last franchises to receive a make-up complete so this franchise starring Max Payne could be a perfect candidate. as it has been Alan Wakealso from Remedy.

Max Payne.

But the real reason that the two games of Max Payne must return to the present is for the dignity of the saga. By clear his good name, stained by a horrible film 2008, with the same title, and starring Mark Wahlberg. That infamy directed by John Moore is responsible for the fact that, nowadays, when someone pronounces the name of this game, many feel a certain discouragement and bad body that seems to be transmitted to the video games themselves, when the poor things are not to blame for anything.

Remedy and Rockstar at the helm

The great news of this remastering is that Remedy (the father of the creature) and Rockstar are in charge, which will act as publisher that will inject enough money to bring it to fruition. In addition, they warn that we are not facing a mere quick update and that’s it, but something much deeper and of substance. So much so that they warn that it will be treated as an AAA game that may be currently being worked on.

In this point, the game will be developed entirely on the Northlight Enginethe same one that has been used in wonders of Remedy itself, such as Controlso that they ensure a technical development of the next two Max Payne as good as the originals were in their day. Is there real desire?
