Windows 11 Pro will only work with Microsoft accounts

The Redmond giant has made a decision as curious as it is controversial: Require a Microsoft account in order to use Windows 11 Pro. This means that, from now on, we will not be able to continue using accounts created locally with said operating system. As many of our readers will know, Windows 11 Home already had this requirement in place, so this is the absolute end of local accounts.

That Microsoft requires an online account with login is something that, deep down, It doesn’t surprise us. The Redmond company had already flirted with this possibility, and as we said at the beginning of the article, this requirement was already established in the Home version of Windows 11. The only version that had been saved from that requirement was Windows 11 Pro, but at final has finished following the steps of the Home version.

Confirmation of the requirement for an online account to use Windows 11 Pro has not been expressly announced by Microsoft, but a clear reference has been discovered in the last build that has reached the Insider channel (in its news list) so we can take it for granted. It will be necessary to see how this ends up affecting the users of said operating system, but we imagine that Microsoft will have thought of everything to try that this is not truly “disruptive” for the user.

And then what does this mean for the user? Well, it’s very simple, it will be necessary to have the PC or laptop connected to the Internet and use a Microsoft account to access Windows 11 Pro. If you wonder why the Redmond giant has decided to take this step, the question is very simple, because with a Microsoft online account you can associate our data to that accountand this allows you collect and obtain valuable informationr about our use of our Windows 11 Pro-based device.

Personally, I don’t think this is a problem in most casesespecially considering that today it is normal to have an Internet connection, and not the other way around, although it is also true that there are certain situations in which this can be complicated, and we hope that Microsoft has kept this in mind.
