Windows 7 runs on a 5 MHz Pentium with 128 MB of RAM

There is no doubt that Windows 7 has been one of the best operating systems from Microsoft, and it has also remained one of the most beloved. The truth is that it was not easy, since it hit the market after the major failure of Windows Vista, an operating system that not only failed to meet expectations, but also had the dubious honor of becoming one of the most hated by the users.

The success of Windows 7 was due to many reasons, but one of the most important was its low requirements and its excellent scalability in different configurations, so much so that it was possible to run it even with a configuration lower than that minimum recommended by Microsoft. In order to run it we needed, according to Redmond, a 1 GHz CPU and 1 GB of RAM for the 32-bit version (2 GB for the 64-bit version).

As I have already told you, despite its low requirements, Windows 7 was an operating system that scaled wonderfully in different hardware configurations, not in vain could support CPUs with up to 256 cores/threads. We know how it could scale up, but how far could such an operating system go if we were aiming for the downside? Well, in a surprising way, so much so that it can work on a computer based on a processor Pentium-S at 5 MHz and accompanied by only 128 MB of RAM.

Although in the BIOS image it says that the chip works at 50 MHz it actually moves at 5 MHz, as we can see in the second image, which serves as validation for this curious “experiment”. Keep in mind, however, that in order to start Windows 7 with these configurations, it had to make numerous adjustments, and that it started by default in the Safe Mode of said operating system.

The time it took to load Windows 7 with such settings will not leave you indifferent, 28 minutes, enough to go for a coffee calmly and come back. Interesting, without a doubt, and a clear example of why Windows 7 deserves to be considered one of the best operating systems ever, and also one of the most flexible.

If you still use Windows 7 you will already know that this operating system is not officially supported, and that the only way to enjoy such support is to upgrade to Windows 10. Still you can upgrade to said operating system for freefor this you have to perform a clean installation and you will be able to use, during the process, your Windows 7 key to activate Windows 10.
