Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro: design, 120 W fast charging… last info before the announcement!

The presentation of the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro will take place in just under a week, and we already have the opportunity to discover the official design of the classic model, and to learn a little more about the Pro variant.

As usual, the leaker Evan Blass unveiled the first official images of the Xiaomi 12 before their announcement next week. The design images correspond well to the renderings OnLeaks shared earlier this month, and confirm some technical characteristics. Indeed, according to the images of Evan Blass, the classic Xiaomi 12 will use a 6.28-inch screen well, and we know that this will be limited to the FHD + definition, largely sufficient for such a small screen.

Official renderings also confirm the presence of a 50 MP main sensor on the back. Unlike in previous years, Xiaomi would bet this time on an IMX7XX sensor from Sony, and not a sensor from Isocell Samsung. Each section of the photo module is delimited by white lines. Finally, the images confirm the arrival of at least three colors: blue, light gray as well as’a green model rather particular, since it replaces the Gorilla Glass Victus glass on the back by vegan leather.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro will use 120W fast charging with a dedicated chip

On the Weibo social network, Xiaomi confirmed that the Pro model will be compatible with its 120 W wired fast charging technology. The latter will not be identical to those of the Xiaomi MIX 4 or Xiaomi 11T Pro, since the battery of the Xiaomi 12 Pro will not use only one group of cells, against two for the previous batteries.

The smartphone should therefore recharge a little slower, and the battery should heat up less than previous generations. Xiaomi promises two different top-up options, one of which is one which limits the heating to 37 degrees, and a faster one that only takes “coffee time”. To properly manage charging on your smartphone, Xiaomi will use its own Surge P1 chip for the first time. For its part, the classic Xiaomi 12 will be satisfied with a maximum power of 67 W.

Finally, Xiaomi has confirmed that the cooling of the Xiaomi 12 Pro is effective. The smartphone only reaches 43.5 degrees after 30 minutes of playing King of Glory at 120 FPS. The device should therefore heat up less compared to previous generations.
