Ahead of the presentation of the Xiaomi 12 on December 28, the OnLeaks leaker has just shared new renderings of the smartphone and provided some of its technical characteristics. These aren’t the first renderings of the smartphone, as other renderings earlier this month showcased a similar smartphone based on stolen photos of components, but now we have a better idea of the device’s design.

According to information from OnLeaks, the Xiaomi 12 is said to be much more compact, but a bit thicker than its predecessor. Indeed, it would only measure 152.7 x 70.0 x 8.6 mm, against 164.3 x 74.6 x 8.1 mm for the Xiaomi Mi 11. The Chinese manufacturer has decided to equip his smartphone with a just 6.2-inch FHD + 120Hz AMOLED display, a far cry from the Mi 11’s gigantic 6.81-inch screen. As previous leaks suggested, the panel will only be curved on the left and right side, rather than on all sides.

The Xiaomi 12 will directly compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S22

By making the Xiaomi 12 a compact smartphone, the Chinese manufacturer could well copy the scheme of Samsung which will offer its Galaxy s22 in multiple sizes, 6.06 inch, 6.55 inch and 6.81 inch. Xiaomi would therefore place its Xiaomi 12 directly against Samsung’s classic Galaxy S22, and this one will offer a more interesting technical sheet.

Indeed, we know that the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, that it will use a centered punch for the front camera, as well as a three-camera configuration on the back. We expect a 50 MP main sensor, a second ultra-wide-angle sensor as well as a macro sensor, Xiaomi still refusing to use a telephoto lens on the classic model. According to the Digital Chat Station leaker, the 50 MP sensor would be new generation of high-end Sony IMX7XX sensor, which promises high performance in low light.

The smartphone should be powered by a approx.4,500mAh battery, and this would be compatible with 67W wired and 55W wireless fast charging. Stereo speakers are also expected. (Zolpidem) By reducing the size of your smartphone compared to the previous generation, Xiaomi should also review its price downwards. As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi 11 was offered from 749 euros.
