There is less time left for Samsung’s QD-OLED TVs to hit the market. They are expected to land officially throughout this summer, so we can expect the Seoul-based giant to present its first Smart TVs with an OLED screen in March.
Furthermore, it should be remembered that Samsung will also launch a line of OLED Smart TVs with LG’s cheaper panels and that assemble the LG A2 and B2 televisions. Although it seems that there will be more actors interested in Samsung’s QD-OLED technology.
And it is that a recent report indicates that Samsung Display has already sent the first samples of its QD-OLED panels to Panasonic, Xiaomi and TCL. This last firm has already made it clear that it will not launch televisions with this technology, but Xiaomi and Panasonic could make a big splash.

Samsung and Sony are not alone: Xiaomi and Panasonic join the QD-OLED party
It should be remembered that Samsung has started ramping up production of QD-OLED panels. For example, one of its major suppliers, CU-Tech, has announced that it has secured five production lines for printed circuit assembly (PCA) for use by Samsung Display in quantum dot (QD)-OLED display panels.
This provider has announced that Samsung Display is sending the first samples to Samsung Electronics and Sony to confirm that the quality standards will be met. On the other hand, Samsung Display intends to significantly increase spending to expand QD-OLED panel production line. By 2022 the manufacturer aims to sell the 500,000 units it has ordered from LG Display, but in 2023 they want to increase production.
CU-Tech will build three PCA lines in 2023 and two PCA lines in 2024 to cope with the expected expansion of QD-OLED production by the South Korean manufacturer. To give you an idea, when CU-Tech gets five lines of PCA, It will be able to manufacture about 600,000 units of QD-OLED TVs per month.
What’s more, the entry of Xiaomi and Panasonic would mean that production would have to increase in order to meet demand. When production is expanded, QD-OLEDs will be made primarily in Vietnam, a CU-Tech executive said. The first batch of QD-OLED panels will be manufactured on Asan’s Q1 line in South Korea for greater quality control.
We will have to be patient, since Panasonic has already presented its new televisions for 2022, and seeing that Samsung has ordered 500,000 QD-OLED panels from LG, we can assume that The first Xiaomi QD-OLED televisions would not arrive, at least, until 2023.
But it is excellent news that firms of the stature of Xiaomi or Panasonic decide to bet on this technology. Regarding TCL, as we have told you before, they have already made it clear that they will not launch a QD-OLED TV in 2022, but It is possible that at CES next year they will surprise us with their own model.
Meanwhile, now we just have to wait for Samsung to officially present its new family of smart TVs with a QD-OLED screen to see all the secrets of a technology that aims higher every day.
