Review of the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A: Design
We’ll start by talking about the design of the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A. In this case we find a very conventional smart TV. The television does not have any differentiating element, although at first glance we can see that it has that minimalist design that characterizes the manufacturer.
The body is made of plastic, although the frame is made of aluminum to give a more premium look to this smart TV. Polycarbonate finishes make it possible to lower the price of the product and, as it looks really good on an aesthetic level, it is not a detail that we have to take into account.

As you know, this type of panel offers quite wide viewing angles at the cost of impoverishing its black level and contrast.
In addition, the fact that its front frames are so thin allow us to enjoy a great experience when viewing multimedia content. Say that it has some angles of 178 degree view more than correct that will allow us to see the screen without problem at any point of the sofa.
Remember that this model does not support HDR of any kind, only SDR. And that its IPS paneltogether with a backlight of the type edge led, causes its image quality to suffer noticeably. In the best image modes (Movie mode), the nits only reach about 170, so thanks to this -paradoxically- its black level does not worsen as other models that are compatible with HDR do.
We cannot forget their two 6W speakers that offer great sound quality, although we can always connect our own system to get an even better audio experience. We would have liked this television to have 4K resolution, but considering its reasonable price, the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A can be purchased for less than 350 euros, we have a really complete product.
Review of the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A: hardware and software
In the hardware section, say that the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A has an Amlogic T962 quad-core processor that reaches a clock speed of up to 1.5 GHz. To this we must add a GPU Mali 450 along with 2GB of DDR4 RAM and 8GB of internal storage. With these features we’ll be able to run any application without problems, although when it comes to loading games we’ll have to bear in mind that those that require a large graphical load will suffer from LAG problems, although we’ll be able to run simple games without problems.
How could it be otherwise? the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A works with Android. It is actually a fork created by the Shenzen-based company and this has several cons: the language is in Chinese, although it can be changed to English, and there is no Google Play app store. Although it is true that it has a local version, the available applications are much more limited. Of course, as we have mentioned at the beginning of this analysis of the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A, when it arrives in Spain it will surely be optimized for us.
To say that this television has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. The wireless Internet connection has worked really well, although with this type of device we always recommend using a network cable to improve the experience. As for Bluetooth, we have connected some wireless speakers without problems, so there is nothing to criticize either. The problem has come when using the remote control.
No. We have not had any problems with it, it has a large number of buttons to access different functions and it works correctly. The bug is that it allows you to activate voice commands to perform different functions, but it only works in Chinese through the Xiaomi voice assistant, so we have not been able to use it.
Gaming: impressive input lag
As for gaming features, this television has an input lag of only 33 ms in game mode, something really good and very rare to find in today’s low ranges.
Of course, this television does not support any new generation standard (VRR, G-Sync, Freesync), nor does it have HDMI 2.1 ports, although again if we see its price, we cannot ask for more. With those 33 ms we will play more than well.
Conclusions
After our analysis of the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A, one thing has become clear to us: the work done by the manufacturer is very good in the value for money. If we take this aspect into account and think that we are talking about a 180 euro television, we will realize that they have really done a very good job.
As the only one but we can say that the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A does not have a VA panel, something that would have come in handy to improve contrast, as well as a little more brightness. Would we recommend Xiaomi Mi TV 4A? Taking into account its price (and its uses: second residence, sporadic use, use in a bedroom) yes. But do not expect great image quality.
