Xiaomi will unveil a new generation of foldable smartphone this summer, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2. The latter would be unlike any other device on the market, since it would be the first to have a screen capable of folding in both directions.
According to information from Digital Chat Station and @xiaomiui, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 has resurfaced in the source code of MIUI, this time had quite interesting information about it. The code confirms that the smartphone is codenamed “ L18 ” Where “ zizhan », and that it appears under the model number 22061218C. The latter indicates in particular that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 would be introduced in China in June 2022but that it should not arrive in France.
Above all, the MIUI code indicates that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will have a rather particular screen, since it will be able to be folded on both sides. Usually the screens of foldable smartphones can only be folded inward or outwardbut it seems that the next generation of Xiaomi MIX Fold, which will be a direct successor to the one that was launched in 2021, may well bend 360 degrees.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will be able to fold in both directions
@xiaomiui points out that although the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will be the first smartphone to be officially foldable inwards and outwards, it was not the first device of its kind from Xiaomi. Indeed, another device called “U1” dating from 2018 was already capable of this, but it had never been presented to the public due to bugs with the software, which prevented the interface from adapting correctly to each new folding. .
To solve this problem, Xiaomi therefore had to wait for Android 12L, the new version of Google’s operating system optimized for tablets and foldable smartphones. Thanks to Android 12.1, MIUI would therefore now be able to adjust the size of its interface without error every time you fold and unfold the smartphone.
Finally, in terms of technical characteristics, we had previously learned that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 should be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, like the next Xiaomi 12 Ultra. We will also find a 8-inch 2K internal display and a 6.5-inch external screen with frequencies of 120Hz and 60Hz, respectively. It will be powered by a battery of 5000mAhand will use a 108 MP main photo sensor.
