Xiaomi presents a NUC-type mini-PC with an Intel processor

Xiaomi is not willing to leave the market segment unexplored and is now entering the mini-PC market with the Xiaomi XM22AL5S. Compared to the previously presented prototypes with internal hardware based on AMD, finally has opted for an Intel base and a design very similar to that used by the chip giant in its NUCs.

Xiaomi XM22AL5S

The Xiaomi XM22AL5S is a compact computer in a square format with a size of 112 x 112 x 38 mm. Mounts an Intel motherboard to house twelfth generation processors like the Core i5-1240Pa development with 12 cores and 16 threads (4 high-performance cores) with a maximum frequency of 4.4 GHz, 12 Mbytes of cache, an integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics and a maximum TDP of 45 watts.

This mini-PC supports up to 64GB of RAM and has an M.2 2280 slot for solid-state drive-based storage PCIe 4.0 NVMe. Xiaomi’s website shows a preconfigured model with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, but the Chinese company is also expected to offer barebones models where the user can build their own memory, storage or operating system.

Thanks to an Intel AX211 card, this mini PC is compatible with modern wireless standards such as Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. Other connectivity elements are:

  • 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports
  • 3 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports
  • 1 USB 2.0 Type-A port
  • 2 outputs for external HDMI 2.1 displays
  • 1 2.5G Ethernet LAN connector
  • 1 3.5mm audio jack
  • One DC power input

The Xiaomi XM22AL5S comes with a 100W (20V/5A) power supply and ships with Windows 11 Home pre-installed. Available soon in China, we hope that Xioami’s introduction into the compact computer market will carry over to the international market. We will inform you of the configurations and prices at the time, but it is always interesting that new players offer alternatives to the current offer.
