While we are still waiting for the official presentation of the Xperia 1 V, a user on Weibo has just published what appears to be a stolen photo of Sony’s future smartphone. The opportunity for us to notice significant changes in the photo part compared to the Xperia 1 IV.
While leaks have followed one another in recent weeks concerning Samsung’s Galaxy S23 and Xiaomi 13, Sony did a pretty good job of preserving the mystery around the Xperia 1 V. Finally, until Friday, February 3, 2023.
Indeed, Weibo user Zackbuks has just published on the Chinese social network what seems to be a first photo of Sony’s future premium smartphone. This image does not show much, except the back cover of the device. The opportunity for us to see the changes made to the photo part of the phone.
Here’s the first stolen image of Sony’s Xperia 1 V
By focusing one’s attention on the island of sensors, one notices the absence of certain sensors present on the Xperia 1 IV, such as the ToF sensor and the RGB sensor with IR filter. If it is indeed the Xperia 1 V, it will therefore be necessary to deal with only three sensors (the specifics of which obviously remain to be determined). Furthermore, we also notice that Sony has moved the LED flash to install it directly in the island, while it was located on the upper part of the Xperia 1 IV.
Just to the right of the photo set, we notice the presence of an NFC logo, which therefore suggests that we are in front of an international version, and not a model for the Japanese market (which would have a Felica logo instead). Of course, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, but it should be noted that the publication of this photo comes just a few weeks from the opening of the MWC 2023 in Barcelona.
We already know that Sony will be present at the event, and who knows, the Japanese brand could therefore take the opportunity to lift the veil on its future flagship. If so, it won’t be long before you can get the device. Generally, Sony launches its smartphones shortly after their presentation. This was the case with the Xperia 1 IV, unveiled on May 11, 2022 and launched on the various markets on June 11, 2022, a short month later. As a reminder, Sony’s latest smartphone is none other than the Xperia 5 IV, a compact version of the Xperia 1 IV with a generous battery and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.
