Yet another mini console to collect: THEA500 mini (Amiga 500)

The Amiga 500 in mini version

Created by Retro Games and distributed by Koch Media, this tribute to the Amiga 500 is called THEA500 mini, and it is a small console that mimics the design of the original Amiga 500. That console launched in the 80s drew attention for its CPU and its sound quality, something that did not take long to be noticed with the many games that came to the console.

And it is those games that now come back pre-installed in this miniature version that is responsible for emulating, not only the Friend 500, but also the Girlfriend 1200, which came in its day with a more advanced graphics architecture. In this way, the games available will be from both generations, finding a total of 25 different titles in the internal memory of the device.

What games does it include?

The A500 mini

In total, there will be 25 titles that will arrive installed in the internal memory of this THEA500 mini, but for now the manufacturer has only revealed the name of 12 of them. They are as follows:

  • Alien Breed 3D
  • Another World
  • ATR: All Terrain Racing
  • Battle chess
  • Corpse
  • Kick Off 2
  • Pinball dreams
  • Simon The Sorcerer
  • Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe
  • The Chaos Engine
  • Worms: The Director’s Cut
  • Zool: Ninja Of The »Nth» Dimension

The rest of the remaining games will be announced in the coming months, so we will see what other titles complete this very interesting collection.

Console and accessories

The console, although it includes the full QWERTY keyboard design, will not offer the keyboard as it is simply decorative (and has an extremely small size), but it will include two control accessories, such as the gamepad and the full-size mouse. In the event that we need a keyboard, we can use a compatible PC USB keyboard or the virtual keyboard on the screen that the interface offers.

What is the price?

The price of this new THEA500 mini will be 129.99 euros, and it will not be available until the beginning of 2022, so we will still have to wait a few months until we see it in stores. We must remember that we can currently purchase the Commodore mini, the first miniature version of Commodore computers that hit the market a few years ago.
