You should download your Stadia data now, we will tell you how to do it

When the closure of Google Stadia was announced, in September of last year, the date chosen to turn off the infrastructure, January 18, seemed a bit distant. There was still going back to school, Halloween, Black Friday, Christmas, the change of year, the wise men, the beginning of the sales and the January slope… a lot of events and dates that, for the inexorable passage of time, have been fulfilled. Thus, today, Monday, January 16, 2023, we are already at the gates of the closure of the service, which will take place the day after tomorrow, Wednesday the 18th.

The most anticipated news in this regard finally came on Saturday, when Google announced that this week it will enable universal Bluetooth support for Stadia controllers. Until now, out of service, these controllers could only be used, with a cable, on PC but, after this release, the controllers can now be used wirelessly on other services and devices, thus preventing them from losing much of their potential utility.

Thus, and with the farewell of Google Stadia, starring Worm Game, the counter for the moment of shutdown is already expressed in hours and, if you have been a user of the service, it is most likely that you have already received refunds for the games purchased, that you have transferred your games in all games that allow cross-play between platforms and, therefore, you may have already said goodbye, on a personal level, to the service.

However, you may still have a task to do, and you may not have even thought about it until now, have you downloaded all your Stadia data? If you haven’t done so, the good news is that you still have time, but you must hurry, because along with the shutdown of the service, the possibility of downloading all your digital assets will also be turned off.

The other good news is that doing it is really easy, since as usual in the search engine company, this operation is carried out through Google Takeout, the company’s data export service. Thus, to download your Stadia data, access Takeout, in this link and in the list that will be displayed, scroll down until you find the entry for the cloud gaming service.

To speed up the process, uncheck all other Google services to download only Stadia data. Once the selection is made, go to the bottom of the page and click on the “Next step” button.

Next, a series of settings related to the download will be displayed, such as if you want it to be periodic (something that doesn’t make sense in this case, of course), what do you want Takeout to do with the download (send you a download link or upload it to some cloud storage service), the compression format and the maximum file size (if your data takes up more, several files will be generated, always taking into account the limit you have chosen). Everything adjusted to your liking? Then click on “Create Export”.

At that moment, the export process will begin, which, as you will read on the web, can take a long time (although, depending on its size and the state of the servers, it can also be practically immediate). Once complete, it will either be uploaded to your chosen cloud hard drive, or you will receive an email with a link to download your Stadia data:
