Zhaoxin launches its first dedicated graphics card and leaves us with many questions

Almost a couple of years ago we told you that China was working to achieve its technological independence, something that on paper may seem relatively simple, but in practice it is very complicated, and if not, ask Zhaoxin, a Chinese company that had been working on his own graphics card for a while and that, finally, has been able to present its first product.

In the end, all the forecasts we made at the time have been fulfilled. As we told you, this first graphics card is a low-end model, something that is obvious due to its design and the cooling system it uses, but also due to its specifications. The Zhaoxin Glenfly Arise-GT10C0 It uses a small radiator that sits on top of a small fan, it’s a low-profile model with a very compact size, and it gets all the power it needs from the PCIe slot.

As for its specifications, the Zhaoxin Glenfly Arise-GT10C0 has 2 GB of graphics memory, although we do not know what type, and it has a 64-bit bus, which means that even if it comes with GDDR5 (I don’t think it uses GDDR6) your bandwidth would be quite low. It has an HDMI connector and a VGA, which means that it can work without problem with both new monitors and relatively old models.

Zhaoxin

this graphics card is an important step forward by Zhaoxin, even despite its limitations and low performance, since it can be used in office equipment and in any computer that does not require high graphic performance. It can be a very good option for government equipment, and also for companies linked to the Chinese government that cannot, or do not want, to use Western hardware.

However, despite what we have said in the previous paragraph, the truth is that the Zhaoxin Glenfly Arise-GT10C0 has a very poor performance. The first information indicates that it would be around 579 points in Geekbench OpenCL, a figure that is 65 times lower than the result obtained by the GeForce GTX 1650. What does this tell us? Well, in its current state, the first Zhaoxin graphics solutions do not even exceed the performance of a low-end integrated GPU, so its possibilities of use could be even more limited than what we have commented. This also confirms that achieving technological independence from the West might be too big a challenge even for China.
