It is unknown how much Zscaler is going to pay for it, and not much more information about the operation has been disclosed. What is already known is that if everything goes as planned by both companies, the operation will close after the end of Zscaler’s second fiscal quarter.

By integrating supply chain security capabilities into its data protection services, Zscaler strengthens its Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) and SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) offerings, enabling companies to consolidate specific products by reducing costs and simplifying management. This new capability is based on the zero-configuration data protection solution.

With the integration of Canonic’s SaaS security platform with the data protection that Zcaler already has, it will be possible to monitor the SaaS security posture. Thus, it will be possible to automate the continuous supervision of configuration failures that can be fatal. Also of compliance violations in Software as a Service platforms. among them, Slack, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Microsoft 365 or Atlassian Suite.

In addition, it will be possible to discover and evaluate third-party applications and extensions. With complete visibility over applications and API integrations into the company’s business applications. On the other hand, it will be possible to discover fraudulent and vulnerable apps, evaluate the position of each integration, the operation of its API and the risk involved in accessing it, and also the problems that browser extensions can cause.

The reduction of the attack surface will also be a consequence of the integration of Canonic’s platform in Zscaler, since it will make it easier to quarantine suspicious applications and reduce inappropriate privileges. In addition, if necessary, it will allow you to revoke and block access. Lastly, it will also enforce access governance, facilitating application integrations by automating application access recertification and verification.

Jay Chaudhry, CEO, President and Founder of Zscaler has highlighted that «hehe addition of Canonic enhances our CASB and SSPM capabilities and bolsters the growing set of services on the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange, the world’s largest cloud security platform, and provides our customers with unprecedented visibility and security of their SaaS applications. It’s a pleasure to welcome the Canonic team to the Zscaler family as we realize our vision of advancing SaaS security.«.

For his part, Boris Gorin, CEO and one of the founders of Canonic Securityhas recalled that «to Although the SaaS ecosystem continues to grow, traditional CASB and SSPM solutions fall short of ensuring protection against the myriad of supply chain attacks targeting organizations and their critical business applications. Combining Canonic with Zscaler’s existing both inline and out-of-band CASB and SSPM offerings is an ideal technology fit that will accelerate the way enterprises deal with native SaaS threats and simplify operations by reducing the number of tools for SaaS security«.
