new routers, NAS and more

The manufacturer Synology has presented its novelties for the next year 2023, a new router, a new NAS model (so far) and has also fully entered the world of professional IP cameras, with the aim of maximizing its video surveillance software for home and SMEs. Synology has also shown in a presentation in Madrid its novelties in terms of software, what’s new in DSM 7.2 to come, and how they see the future of NAS with a combination of C2’s public cloud and on-premises storage. Do you want to know all the news from the manufacturer? Below you have all the details.

Synology News for 2023

The manufacturer has made the presentation of a total of four teams for the next year 2023, although we are sure that we will also see many more once next year arrives. At the moment, we have a new router with Mesh support, a new NAS server for home environments and SMEs, as well as IP cameras with 5MP resolution that are really interesting.

New WRX560 router with Mesh

This new WiFi 6 router from the manufacturer incorporates Simultaneous dual-band with Wi-Fi 6 and AX3000 class. In the 2.4GHz band we can achieve a speed of up to 574Mbps, thanks to its two internal antennas in MU-MIMO 2T2R configuration, the 40MHz channel width and the Wi-Fi 6 standard. 5GHz band we can achieve a speed of up to 2,400Mbps, thanks to its four internal antennas in MU-MIMO 4T4R configuration, the 80MHz channel width and the Wi-Fi 6 standard.

This router has one dedicated Gigabit Ethernet port for the WAN of the Internet, we also have one 2.5G Multigigabit port for WAN/LAN, so we can configure this high-speed port as WAN or LAN, depending on what we need. Of course, the firmware supports Dual-WAN for load balancing or connection failover. Finally, we have a total of 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports for the LAN.

This router has a powerful 1.4GHz Quad-Core processorso we can maximize the USB 3.2 Gen 1 port at 5Gbps that it incorporates in one of the sides of the router.

The firmware of this router is still the popular SRM, so we have a lot of advanced configuration options, both to configure the WiFi wireless network with a Mesh network of other Synology models, as well as to configure VLANs in the LAN to properly segment the local network and separate traffic from the main network, guest network or home automation network. Soon at RedesZone we will offer you a complete analysis of this Mesh-compatible router, and thanks to its 2.5G Multigigabit port, we will be able to create a backhaul network at a very high speed of up to 2.5Gbps.

New DS923+ NAS

Synology has presented its new mid-range NAS server that is focused on home users and SMEs. This new model has a processor AMD Ryzen R1600it is Dual-Core at a speed of 2.6GHz, incorporates hardware encryption acceleration so that transfers via SFTP and FTPES work as fast as possible. The Default RAM memory is 4GBHowever, we can expand it up to 32GB of RAM.

This new NAS server has a total of 4 bays to accommodate 3.5″ hard drives, 2.5″ hard drives or 2.5″ SATA3 SSD drives. It also incorporates two slots to install NVMe SSD drives inside, with the aim of activating SSD cache acceleration and achieving maximum read and write performance. This model has 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports for the LAN with Link Aggregation support, we also have two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports at 5Gbps speed, and an eSATA port on the back.

Of course, this NAS server has the latest version of DSM to provide the best security, the best performance and the latest news from Synology with its applications to build a hybrid cloud.

IP cameras

Synology has launched two cameras within the 500 series that will be released in 2023. These cameras at the specification level are the same, they have a resolution of 5MP at 30 FPS, they support PoE to power them through the network cable, and they have the IP67 certification so they are prepared to be placed outdoors.

These new cameras are perfectly integrated into Surveillance Station, and also into C2 Surveillance, the manufacturer’s video surveillance Cloud platform that they have presented to add an additional layer of security to our recordings.
