PS5: Sony unveils the DualSense Edge, its new customizable controller

Sony has just announced a new DualSense Edge wireless controller. This “high performance” controller is fully customizable, and therefore directly competes with Microsoft’s Xbox Elite.

Sony announced last night at Gamescom a new version of its popular DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5. Dubbed the DualSense Edge, Gamescom host Geoff Keighley described it as a ” very efficient and highly customizable “.

The DualSense Edge marks the first time PlayStation has made its own high-end controller. As its name suggests, the new DualSense Edge wireless controller for PlayStation 5 is ” designed to give you an in-game advantage » thanks to a custom control mapping to suit your playstyle and needs.

The DualSense Edge is Sony’s best gamepad

The DualSense Edge features replaceable thumbsticks, customizable controls with adjustable stick sensitivity and very sensitive triggerss, an integrated user interface and interchangeable rear buttons. In short, like Microsoft’s Xbox Elite, it offers everything fans have come to expect from a high-end controller. Unsurprisingly, the controller retains all the usual features of the original DualSenselike haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

It also allows multiple control profiles to be saved. Sony states that ” you can save them in unique profiles and switch between them on the fly “. In other words, it will be quite easy to switch from one configuration to another by changing games.

At present, there are still many unknowns regarding the DualSense Edge controller. PlayStation has yet to reveal the accessory’s launch date or price. Considering the price of Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Controller, it’s it is likely that the DualSense Edge will be marketed around 150 euros.

The DualSense Edge will support USB-C and will come with a carrying case. The good news is that the case is designed to make it easy to charge with the cable when the controller is inside. We hope that unlike the DualSense, this new controller will not encounter any drift problems.
