There are no miracles as they say in F1, but work and optimization. The tricks that we are going to see have several characteristics, such as simplicity, almost no investment or expense, and of course common sense, which is sometimes the least of all senses.
Tricks for your PC in summer, less heat?
The first thing we have to do is analyze the problem: the room temperature rises a lot. So, diagnosis in hand, what can be done? Well, go aiming and prepare your setup.
Lower the PC tower to the ground
Although it may not seem like it, the distance from your table to the ground is important. The hot air is less dense and therefore it accumulates in the highest parts of your room or office, it is literally on the ceiling and that is why air conditioners are installed near it.
Lowering the tower 20, 30 or more centimeters implies a minimal difference in degrees, but very useful for our PC when putting the air inside the tower, have a PUSH or PULL configuration. Here we must add that, if we have a room under the basement floor or similar, it is the most appropriate, since under the floor the temperature is greatly reduced, but this is something that almost no person can do in this country where the buildings.
This has a little drawback, and it is that the PC can catch more dirtso the dust filters will have to be washed more frequently and we must try to maintain a cleaner environment, at least during the months of extreme heat.
To alleviate this, you can buy a support with wheels that “isolates” it from as much dirt and soil as possible, we lose 4 or 5 cm, but we also gain PC cleanliness.
Change your cooling settings
We are not going to talk about buying more or better fans, that is your choice, but it is true that the configuration of the ventilation system of your PC influences in their temperatures. As a rule, what people do is remove the side window of the box, but this is not only a mistake that has immediate positive effects because you go from X cubic liters of volume of hot air to multiply the amount by more than 100.
What you have to do is change the PULL to PUSH ventilation system and in negative pressure. In Christian, put all the auxiliary fans of your tower extracting air, pushing the air out. It seems counterproductive because if we add this trick to the previous one there doesn’t seem to be any gain in thermal performance, but it isn’t.
The box is not a sealed system, that is, if we remove all the hot air from inside, the cold air will enter through any part of it by simple suction produced by the fans, thereby improving the temperature. Many believe that the headlamps should insert the air to create a correct flow, but reality shows that the negative pressure in PUSH It is much more effective, especially if we have AIO or Custom liquid cooling.
What “tricks” should we avoid?
The first and most obvious is open the side of the box. The temperature drop will be almost instantaneous, but let’s remember that the first enemy of any PC is dust and there is a lot of that in any of our houses, because we ourselves are the main producers of it, and if we have pets or smoke then the problem it is exponentially more serious.
Opening the side window lowers the temperature, but the dust will enter freely and the effect will become a problem in just a few weeks, it will not reach a month, with the consequent electrical risk that it entails for the components and from which it is impossible to escape even this year. In addition, it will give us more work in the event that the PC resists without a problem since we will have to clean it completely after a short time.
