Steam Deck: announced price, release date and specifications of the portable console from Valve

Surprisingly, Valve raised the curtain up Steam Deck, the long-awaited high-performance portable console that aims not only to rival the Nintendo Switch, but also to take the world of gaming entertainment to a new level.

The platform, in fact, even if with a form factor designed for portability, is in fact a High-performance gaming mini-PC with advanced hardware features and full access to Steam’s vast digital catalog.

Steam Deck release date

Steam Deck will debut on the market in December 2021, just long enough to end up on the list of nerdy Christmas gifts, at the price of 419 euros.

The console will allow you to carry your collection of Steam games with you just as if it were a PC or laptop, enjoying the absolute freedom to play wherever you want.

Features of Steam Deck

Made in close collaboration with AMD, Valve’s handheld console has really interesting technical features, starting with a powerful Zen 2 RDNA 2 D APU optimized for portability, 7-inch touch screen, controls (sticks and trackpad), Wi- Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C port for accessories and microSD slot to expand storage capacity.

There is also a convenient dock (sold separately) that allows the Steam Deck to connect to external displays, wired networks, USB peripherals, as well as, of course, to power and recharge the console.

Steam Deck comes with a built-in 40-watt-hour battery that will guarantee several hours of gameplay for most Steam titles. Valve has stated a maximum battery life of around 7-8 hours for less intensive console usage such as streaming 2D games or web browsing.

Models, prices and pre-orders

Steam Deck will be available in three versions depending on the type of basic internal storage unit: 64GB eMMC (419 euros), 256GB NVMe SSD (549 euros) o 512GB NVMe SSD. This latest version will include all accessories and will have a price of 679 euros.
