this update brings key features to the drone

Presented at the beginning of November, the Mavic 3 was cut off from several important functions when it was launched. DJI corrects the situation and publishes an important update for its drone.

DJI made an impression in early November by presenting the Mavic 3, a promising new drone. The Chinese giant, specialist in civilian drones, has multiplied the innovations on its flagship product and this desire has been accompanied by a certain frustration. When it was launched, the Mavic 3 had to ignore certain features, and the Chinese brand announced an update in January 2022. A promise kept by the manufacturer, which has just released new firmware for its drone.

Together with the new version of the DJI Fly app (1.5.8) for iOS and Android, the v01.00.0500 update provides access to several key features such as QuickShots, QuickTransfer mode, D-Log color assistance or Panorama mode again. Well known to DJI drone enthusiasts, the QuickShots modes allow automatic shots capable of focusing on a subject. As its name suggests, QuickTransfer facilitates the transfer of content between the drone and a mobile device, while the Mavic 3’s Panaroma mode allows photos to be directly stitched and processed by the drone.

QuickShots, Panorama, burst mode… the Mavic 3 is finally ready to take off

DJI does not stop there and brings several other novelties to take advantage of the capabilities of this drone equipped with a dual camera system. Following the addition of Intelligent Subject Tracking modes in December, the brand is bringing burst mode and digital zoom to video mode. There is also the possibility of accessing 4K at 60 fps for the Mastershots mode, as well as the possibility of manually adjusting the exposure. Digital zoom and D-Log profile become available in FocusTrack mode. Finally, DJI now allows you to set an RTH (Return to Home) altitude in “Advanced RTH” mode.

The update also offers fixes to improve the sharpness of images captured with telephoto zoom and optimize color fidelity. Remember that the Chinese manufacturer has equipped its Mavic 3 with a large 20 Mpx 4/3 CMOS sensor (24 mm for 84° aperture) and a second lens with a hybrid x28 zoom.

To access the new firmware, DJI suggests updating the DJI Fly application to version 1.5.8 and then installing the update on its drone. The Chinese giant has also released a video to help update its Mavic 3.
