D-Link DMS-3130: long-term scalability for Multi-Gigabit networks in enterprise environments

D-Link has announced a new family of managed switches. It’s about the range DMS-3130which at the moment is made up of two models and offers several Multi-Gigabit positions, PoE++ options, the possibility of physically stacking up to nine units with six 25 Gigabit SFP28 ports and layer 3 management functions. This makes stacking them performance is maximized.

Both are multipurpose switches, both in core networks in SMEs and in projects where it is necessary for the network to incorporate link aggregation due to the high need for bandwidth demand, as well as redundancy. In addition, they give the opportunity to deploy WiFi 6 networks with the maximum possible bandwidth. This is achieved thanks to the fact that they integrate 2.5 and 5 Gigabit ports, which, unlike standard Gigabit ports, have no danger of causing a bottleneck in high-performance WiFi 6 access points.

It allows reaching 200 Gbps of bandwidth when operating in stacking, which results in greater performance in link aggregation. They also include full Layer 2 features, with Private VLAN, LACP, Spanning Tree (MTSP), DHCP Server, Link Aggregation Protocol (LACP) and ERPS.

They integrate a software image, without additional licenses, with L3 functions: Static routing, L3 Multicasting, OSPF, VRRP for advanced redundancy or PBR. Also various robust security functions: ACEL on entry and exit, Radius authentication and TACACS+.

They are managed through a web interface, but also through a console port or MGMT through a Full CLI command interface. On the other hand, they offer integrated SNMP network management through the optional D-View 8 NMS software. Its power supplies and fan modules are hot-swappable, and it can optionally be purchased with a backup power supply. Both models have 2 10G Base-T Multi-Gigabit ports (100/1000/2.5G/5G/10G), 4 SFP28 ports at 25G for stacking (25G) or uplinks (10/25G), a console port and an MGMT port .

He D-Link DMS-3130-30PS/E It is intended for integration into environments where Power Over Ethernet needs to be used to send data and power to PoE devices, such as WiFI access points, cameras or phones. In addition to the mentioned ports, it has 16 2.5GBase-T PoE ports, 8 2.5/5G Base-TPoE++ ports (up to 60 watts per port) and 2 10GBase-T Multi-Gigabit ports (100/1000/2.5G/5G/10G ). It incorporates 6 Kv surge protection on PoE ports, which improves its security.

Regarding the switch model D-Link DMS-3130TS/E, does not have PoE and is used for the core or aggregation layers. In addition to the ports common to the models in the range, it offers 24 2.5GBase-T ports.
