The Wi-Fi Mesh system ASUS ExpertWiFi EBM68 is the first of the ExpertWiFi family, a series of equipment specifically oriented for offices, businesses and also small and medium-sized companies, where we need advanced configuration options, such as the possibility of creating several WiFi networks with different profiles, having the possibility of configuring a captive portal and also segment WiFi and wired network traffic through VLANs on the LAN. The ASUS ExpertWiFi EBM68 is a high-end model in terms of Wi-Fi Mesh systems, as it incorporates triple band with Wi-Fi 6, and very powerful hardware to support all the network traffic that any office, business or small and medium-sized company needs. The best thing about this device, without a doubt, is the new Asuswrt firmware, which has a new design and quite advanced configuration options.
Main features of WiFi Mesh
This Wi-Fi Mesh system has Simultaneous tri-band with Wi-Fi 6 and AX7800 class. In the 2.4GHz band we can get one speed up to 574Mbpsin the first 5GHz band we can get up to 2402Mbps speedand in the second 5GHz band we can get up to 4804Mbps speed. This equipment has all the Wi-Fi 6 technologies such as Beamforming, MU-MIMO in all bands and also OFDMA. The firmware allows us to configure the Wi-Fi part in a very advanced way, as is usually the case.
At the wiring level, we have a 2.5G Multigigabit port for the Internet WAN, the firmware supports VLANs in the Internet WAN, VLAN per port to provide IPTV services and even the Movistar Triple VLAN FTTH profile. We also have a total of three Gigabit Ethernet ports, with support for Jumbo Frames at 9K and Link Aggregation. If you want to share files and folders, you can do so with the fast USB 3.0 port that it includes, since we have a fairly powerful Quad-Core processor so that the reading and writing speed is as high as possible.
The most notable thing about this Wi-Fi Mesh system is the Asuswrt firmware, we have a completely renewed new design, although we retain each and every one of the usual configuration options. The two new features of the ExpertWiFi family are the SDN (Self-Defined Network) which allows us to create additional networks, both wireless and wired, and aimed at different types of use such as WiFi networks for employees, guests, networks for IoT devices and many other templates that we have available. We will also be able to configure VLANs on the LANIn this way, we can assign a certain port of the AiMesh router or AiMesh node to be in access mode with a specific VLAN, and even in trunk mode to connect a manageable switch.
The VPNs in the ExpertWiFi family are even more important, not only is it compatible in server mode with IPsec, WireGuard and OpenVPN, it is also compatible in client mode, but we can create an SDN network and have all clients connected to this network , go out to the Internet through the VPN server that we configure on the router, perfect to greatly facilitate clients’ browsing safely and privately.
