Apple has officially announced that the Apple Vision Pro software development kits are now available. So if you want to know how it’s going to work, where the system is going to run, the whole roadmap and how to request one of these kits, in this post we tell you all the details.
If you have a Mac, you have visionOS
The developer version of visionOS can now be downloaded via the software package xcode 15 beta 2, which is compatible with macOS. Thanks to this, we will have access to the following operating systems, in addition to the glasses:
- macOS 14 beta 2
- iOS 17 beta 2
- watchOS 10 beta 2
- tvOS 17 beta 2
- visionOS 1 beta
The total weight of the download, between macOS (required) and visionOS, is 9.94GB. And the minimum required operating system, on the computer, so that we can run and test visionOS is to have macOS Ventura 13.3. In the case of Xcode 15 beta 2, we will also need this version installed on our Mac. In the same way that we need macOS Ventura, we will need our computer to be compatible. So, the models that support this system are the following:

- MacBook Air Retina (2018 – 2019)
- MacBook Air with Apple Silicon (all models)
- MacBook Retina 12-inch (2017)

Apple gives more details about this release
In the company’s own words, “Apple’s global community of developers will be able to start creating never-before-seen spatial computing apps that take advantage of the infinite potential of Vision Pro and blur the boundaries between digital content and the physical world to offer extraordinary experiences.” .
To carry out this milestone, they not only put the software compatible with Macs, but also, the same developers «may request kits with which to developiterate, and test directly and quickly in Apple Vision Pro.”
Beyond the development kit itself
These two ingredients are not the only ones in the recipe. “Next month, Apple will open laboratories in Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo where developers will be able to do hands-on testing of their apps with Apple Vision Pro devices and receive assistance from Apple engineers,” they explain in their official press release.
This operating system needs an official developer account activated. Without this requirement, we will not be able to opt for the download. In the same way, they also report that “new design kits” and “updated guidelines on human interfaces” will be available in this new line of operating systems.
They stick out the first apps for the Vision Pro
Some of the first practical uses of the new mixed reality glasses are also present in the company’s official statement. Medicine, music, the development of 3D images and designs, and industrial processes are the first letter of introduction.
