Nuclias Cloud analysis with all options

What options do we have in Nuclias Cloud?

Nuclias Cloud is the platform for centralized management in the cloud of the manufacturer D-Link, currently allows you to centrally monitor and control different models of WiFi access points, various models of manageable switches, and now also allows you to remotely control the gateways of the manufacturer D-Link. This D-Link DBG-2000 model is the first one that they have launched on the market, and we are going to have many options related to the professional local network, security and also VPN services.

networks

In the section of “networks» or network we can configure in detail everything related to the gigabit ethernet ports that we have available in the equipment, in addition, being a professional range equipment, we will be able to make really interesting configuration options. Below, you can see some of the available options:

  • Custom the Internet WAN1 in an advanced way, configuring the connection mode and the VLAN ID if necessary.
  • configure the LAN2 and LAN3 ports as LAN, WAN or as DMZ. Being an SD-WAN team we will be able to carry out this configuration from the cloud in a really simple way.
  • The LAN4 port is specifically configured for LAN, but we can modify the subnet settings without any problem. We can edit the IP address of the interface, the DHCP server and other common parameters.

According to the VLAN configuration on the LANwe must take into account that when we create them, we can apply them to one or several ports, so these VLANs are tagged in any of the LANs that we want, but it is mandatory to have VLAN 1 configured in these VLANs, so we need to use manageable switches if we want to have access to these VLANs that we are going to create.

Other options are to create static routes, routing policies, we also have interior gateway routing protocols like RIPv2 and also OSPFv2, so we’re going to be able to set up an IGP network. Finally, we also have the possibility of activating Jumbo Frames, IGMP, ALG, traffic management with Traffic Shaping and much more, such as the creation of a captive portal.

Security

Regarding security, we can create different ACLs (Access Control Lists) to allow or deny the traffic that we want, by having NAT we will also have the corresponding menus of the Port Forwarding and the Port Triggering as well as 1:1 NAT in case we want to activate it.

The highlight of this model is the IDS/IPS (Intrusion Detection and Prevention System) that we have available, all the signatures are downloaded directly from the manufacturer’s cloud, we cannot edit or see these signatures, but we will have the number of signatures that are being used. Of course, we will be able to activate or deactivate this function, enable it for LAN to WAN and even for DMZ to WAN as well.

Finally, another very important novelty is that we have an advanced web content filtering, and it is that we will be able to allow or block websites on demand in the form of a list, and we can even block thousands of web pages based on the different categories of content that we have available. Of course, we also have the possibility of activating the application control list.

VPN servers

Nuclias Cloud with this D-Link DBG-2000 allows us to configure a maximum of up to 200 VPN tunnels simultaneously, in fact, it allows us to configure:

  • Up to 200 IPsec tunnels.
  • Up to 200 PPTP/L2TP tunnels.
  • Up to 200 OpenVPN tunnels.
  • Up to 200 GRE tunnels.

We can use all these protocols simultaneously, we can use IPsec to connect offices between them, and later use OpenVPN to allow different clients outside the office to connect to the business network. And all this with very advanced configuration options, and routing policies that we must configure so that the traffic goes where we really want.

If you want to know everything about Nuclias Cloud with this VPN firewall that also works as SD-WAN Security Gateway, then you can see it in our complete video:

As you have seen in the previous video, Nuclias Cloud is really complete and will allow us to monitor and configure a professional network in great detail. In addition, one of the strengths of this solution is that we can only have the D-Link DBG-2000 in the Nuclias Cloud, it is not necessary to have manageable switches and APs with Nuclias Cloud, it can be Nuclias Connect and even from other manufacturers. If we buy several DBG-2000 for different venues, we can connect them to each other in a really simple way thanks to the VPN (virtual private networks) that the equipment incorporates.
