Revolution at QNAP! Discover the novelties presented at Computex 2023

QNAP has presented new really interesting equipment at Computex, and also a great improvement in one of its star applications, which is HBS3 for making backup copies, and it is now much more complete and we can have a global vision of the state of all the backups that we are making.

New Hybrid Backup and own cloud

HBS3 or also known as «Hybrid Backup Sync 3» is the popular backup solution from the manufacturer QNAP. This completely free application will allow us to make backup copies in a very advanced way, both to other NAS from the manufacturer QNAP, any NAS from another manufacturer as long as standard protocols are used, as well as the possibility of uploading all the data to different public clouds such as Azure , OneDrive, Google Drive and much more. Thanks to HBS3 we can have all backups under control.

Now the manufacturer QNAP has released Hybrid Backup Center, a solution that centralizes the management of NAS backup jobs on a large scale, and even between different sites using HBS3. In this way, we can have an application that will be in charge of seeing the network topology where we make the different backup copies, to greatly simplify the work.

As if this were not enough, QNAP has also presented its new solution myQNAPcloudOne, the QNAP cloud where we can upload all our backups quickly and easily. Thanks to this new service, we can protect all our data and keep it available at all times, facilitating the strategy of backups 3-2-1 that we all know. A very important aspect is that it integrates perfectly with HBS3, Hybrid Backup Center and also with HybridMount to integrate it into the NAS and use it with File Station.

New NDR and QuCPE switches

We currently have the QNAP QGD-1602P switch that we can transform into a complete team NDR (Network Detection and Response) called ADRA, allowing the implementation of this important technology in access switches, with the aim of detecting attacks and stopping them automatically to keep the network secure. The manufacturer QNAP has announced the launch of new NDR switches, but without detailing their hardware.

What they have done is launch a new QuCPE network virtualization equipment, the new model is the QuCPE-7030A that has a powerful 10-core and 20-thread processor, and also has operating system virtualization technology, VNF and also containers, with the goal of replacing dedicated network hardware. In this way, we can create a virtualized network with this equipment, and it allows high availability at the system level to have the minimum unavailability of the service.

New advanced NAS and NVRs

QNAP has presented different models of NAS servers aimed at a business audience, since their technical characteristics are very high-end. Next, you have all the news regarding new models from the manufacturer:

  • TS-h3077AFU: This top-of-the-range model incorporates a powerful AMD Ryzen 7 7700 processor, it has an all-flash SATA array with 30 SSD bays. It has 2 10GBASE-T ports, 2 2.5G ports, and 3 PCIe 4.0 ports that support cards up to 25Gbps speed. Within this family we also have the TS-h1277AXU-RP models that have 12 bays and the TS-h1677AXU-RP model with 16 bays. A very important aspect is that all these models have PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots for the M.2 SSD units that we can install.
  • TS-hX74T: This new family consists of the TS-h674T and TS-h874T models. In this case we have a 12th generation Intel Core i7 processor, or we can also opt for the Intel Core i9 if we need more power. These teams include two Thunderbold 4 ports (type C), two 2.5G ports, integrated GPU in the processor (it also has HDMI output), as well as two M.2 NVMe PCie 4.0 x4 slots. In addition, we also have two PCIe 4.0 slots to install 10G expansion cards and even 25Gbps speed.
  • TBS-574TX: This is the first QNAP NAS to support E1.S SSD drives, which is a game changer for performance-demanding tasks like 2K and 4K video editing. It incorporates a 12th generation 10-core Intel Core i3 processor, as well as Thunderbold 4 connectivity. This model is really small in size, and only weighs 2.5Kg. One important aspect is that we have an E1.S to M.2 2280 NVMe SSD adapter to provide flexibility.

As you can see, we have important news in NAS servers from the manufacturer, all of them very powerful and corresponding to the high range.

Another important novelty is the launch of new JBOD SATA storage boxes with PCIe interface, such as the TL-Rxx00PES-RP series, which has models with 12, 16 and 24 bays to accommodate disks. QNAP has partnered with Seagate to offer solutions and scalability up to Petabytes, making QNAP NAS compatible with Seagate Exos E models.

In addition to all these NAS models, we also have new AI-based NAS for video surveillance. We have the new model TS-AI642 what is a NAS with processor 8 core ARM and with a 6-TOPS NPU. This equipment is specifically designed for AI image recognition and the use of smart surveillance applications. We have a double 4K HDMI output, 2.5G connectivity and also a PCIe 3.0 slot to install expansion cards at 10Gbps speed.

Thanks to the QNAP and Hailo joint solution, we have a very efficient, scalable and affordable AI video surveillance solution. Instead of buying expensive built-in AI cameras, users will be able to use this solution with AI-equipped people counting and facial recognition applications via QNAP surveillance servers with Hailo-8 M.2 AI modules. . Finally, we also have QVR Recording Vaulta centralized backup solution for long-term retention of images, and that allows you to backup video recordings even with metadata and facial recognition information.
