Samsung Galaxy S24: Possible specifications, release date, price and everything we know

The Galaxy S24 will be Samsung’s next top-of-the-range smartphone, and as its name suggests, it will become the successor to the Galaxy S23. I know it’s only been a few months since the release of the latter, but the South Korean giant chain development cycles and when the current model was launched, the company was already working on its successor.

This has an explanation, and part of the mannual renewal model that Samsung has been using since the launch of the first Galaxy S, which hit the market in 2010 and was succeeded by the Galaxy SII in 2011. As a result of this tight renewal space It is normal that shortly after the launch of a smartphone we begin to have information about its successorand that said information is totally reliable.

During the last few weeks, exactly what we have just told you has been fulfilled, and we have been seeing a major trickle of interesting information related to the Galaxy S24 which, frankly, has given us the odd surprise, and has somewhat broken the schemes we had set up so far.

I know that many of you are looking forward to the launch of this new family of Samsung terminals, and for this reason I wanted to filter all the rumors that have appeared and collect, in this article, the most reliable and most interesting information. We do not yet have officially confirmed information, but everything you are going to read below comes from reliable sources, and has high credibility.

Design and build quality of the Galaxy S24

Galaxy S24

The Galaxy S24 will be a high-end smartphone that will fall into the premium category, which means that it will be built on aluminum and glass. The chassis will use said metal, which is characterized by being light and resistant, and also by having a high thermal conductivity, which allows it to act as a passive dissipation system. On the back we will find a layer of Gorilla Glass glass, and we will also have another on the front that protects the screen.

In terms of design, the truth is that we do not expect major changes in the Galaxy S24 family compared to the Galaxy S23 series. Roughly, Samsung has been polishing the base design that it introduced at the time with the Galaxy S20something that we have been able to notice both on the front, where we have reduced edges and a camera integrated into a floating island, and on the back, where the integration of the cameras has been improved while maintaining their vertical distribution, until reaching an islandless design.

With this in mind, it is most likely that the Galaxy S24 will repeat the base design of the Galaxy S23, and that Samsung will simply introduce Minor changes and improvements in said terminal that will mainly affect the rear, and maybe also to the frame line. We should not yet wait for the integration of the front camera on the screen, since this change is something very complex that would not only make the terminal more expensive, but would also reduce the performance of the front camera.

Models and possible specifications of the Galaxy S24

I have seen some rumors that Samsung could reduce the models that will arrive with the Galaxy S24 series to two, and they justified this information by referring to the poor sales of the Galaxy S23 series. However, this information was denied at the time when the South Korean company confirmed that those are selling much better than the Galaxy S22, and said that in some markets the difference is even 70%, although the truth is that it did not give specific figures, only percentages.

Based on what I have just told you, the most normal thing would be for Samsung to maintain the current distribution, which means that we will see, in theory, a standard Galaxy S24, a “Plus” model, and the “Ultra” model. The first will be the base version, and the most affordable of the three, while the second will be a version of it with a larger screen. The third will be the flagship, the largest and best-equipped of the three, and the only one to feature stylus support.

At the hardware level, the information we have is still quite brief, but rumors are sounding very strongly that Samsung will use the Exynos 2400 SoC with the Galaxy S24, which makes sense given that the South Korean giant recently renewed its patent license agreement with AMD, allowing it to continue using its GPUs to create its own SoCs.

  • 6.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with FHD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate.

  • 5,000 mAh battery with fast recharge.
  • Android 14 as the operating system with the OneUI 6.0 layer.

If all this is confirmed, the differences that we will see in this new generation they will be quite small. Right now we could only highlight the changes at the design level, which as we have said should not be very marked, and also the jump to a new SoC. In the case of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, we are struck by the use of a new panel with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, and the new one-inch 200 MP sensor.

It goes without saying that these changes will not be enough to encourage those who have a Galaxy S23, or even a Galaxy S22, to make the leap to this new generation, and that therefore the Galaxy S24 will be more oriented to those who have a Galaxy S21 or earlier model. All Galaxy S24 will have guaranteed four years of Android updates.

Possible release date and prices of the Galaxy S24

Galaxy S24

Samsung presented the Galaxy S23 on February 1, but its launch took place on the 17th of that month, which means that we have to differentiate between the presentation date and the launch date. Most likely, the South Korean company present the Galaxy S24 at the beginning of February 2024, and immediately open pre-purchases by offering some kind of benefit to encourage consumers to reserve a unit. Shipments, and general availability of this series, should go to middle of said month.

Please note that Samsung has been adapting the presentation and launch date of its Galaxy series according to its needs, and that therefore it is possible that there will be small delays or even that the arrival of the Galaxy S24 will be brought forward. In the end, everything will depend on the market situation, Samsung’s needs and what it deems best for its interests, but in any case its launch should not take more than a few weeks.

As for the price, it is a subject that raises many doubts, especially after the last rise that the Galaxy S23 series experienced in Europe. Sources are not fully agreed on this issue, so we can’t rule out any possibility yet. With everything, I am inclined to think that Samsung will try to avoid a new price increase, and that in the end the Galaxy S24 will end up costing the same as the Galaxy S23, or that in the worst case they will be only a little more expensive.

  • Estimated price of the 128 GB Galaxy S24: 959 euros.
  • Estimated price of the 256 GB Galaxy S24+: 1,219 euros.
  • Estimated price of the Galaxy S24 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB: 1,419 euros.

If there were to be a price rise, this It should be very contained so as not to scare away consumers, and the price of these new terminals should increase, at most, by about 40 euros, which would leave them, respectively, at 999 euros, 1,259 euros and 1,459 euros. It goes without saying that, with these prices, Samsung would be very close to Apple’s most expensive terminal, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which costs 1,469 euros.
