Tesla could open its network of Supercharger terminals to competition for a ridiculously low price

Tesla now appears ready to open its network of Supercharger stations to competition, according to a brief test that appeared on the automaker’s app a few days ago.

For several years, Tesla has made it known that it plans to open its network of Superchargers to non-Tesla electric vehicle owners around the world. The Netherlands was the first region where Superchargers became available to people without a Tesla vehicle, before other CSS-equipped Superchargers opened up to competition in other countries in Europe.

From now on, the opening of Supercharger terminals to other electric vehicles seems imminent in the United States. Tesla owners have begun noticing a new membership option in the company’s software allowing users to register for access to Superchargers with a price per kilowatt lower than the usual price.

Tesla will offer a very affordable subscription for its network of Superchargers

Earlier this week, Tesla app users noticed a brief internal test where owners of non-Tesla vehicles could sign up for the Supercharger network. As seen in a screenshot on Sawyer Merritt’s Twitter account, the app said there was a pay-as-you-go option and a flat-rate monthly payment option.

Tesla likely won’t require all non-Tesla owners to subscribe to use Superchargers, but those who choose to pay 0.99 cents per month for membership will receive discounts. The subscription price seems too good to be true, which led many users to doubt. (https://ayvnews.com/) Indeed, it is likely that Tesla has only tested the functionality by displaying a price that will not be that of the final subscription.

Hours later, Merritt reported that Tesla had removed the new feature from its app, adding: “ I guess they accidentally pressed publish prematurely or mistakenly put $0.99/mo instead of $9.99/mo “. It is nevertheless possible that Tesla tries to apply an even more aggressive rate than the competition. The subscription price for the Electrify America super-fast charger network is currently set at $4 per month and lowers the price per kWh by around 20%.
