Kali Linux is without a doubt the most popular Linux distribution when it comes to cybersecurity. They just released the new version KaliLinux 2022.2 and in this article we are going to show what its main novelties are. As with each new edition, they usually improve certain errors detected in the previous one and also include some new features and tools to make the most of this operating system.
Kali Linux 2022.2 available
One of the main changes introduced by Kali Linux 2022.2 is related to the desk. The new version is updated to Gnome 42 and offers a more polished look, in addition to having a tool to take screenshots and screen recording in a simple way.
The main theme now has a more modern look, with popup menus and uses rounded edges. Although it is mainly an aesthetic change, from the Kali Linux team they indicate that they have managed to integrate it better and have also solved certain errors that they had detected.
They have also updated the Kali-Dark and Kali-Light themes, as well as an update to KDE Plasma 5.24, with better design and interface tweaks.
Another important change is that now the WSL GUI applications can be run as root. Until now, those running this distro under the Windows subsystem had to use Win-KeX in order to launch GUI applications via WSL-G. But this didn’t allow to start applications with root permissions and now by upgrading Win-KeX to version 3.1 it is possible.
With each new version of Kali Linux, one of the most anticipated points by users is what new tools it will incorporate. This time there are also several interesting news. In total they are 10 new tools thus expanding the range of possibilities offered by this Linux distribution for ethical hacking.
